We may not get the summer we deserve, but “Big Drippa” by 2rare is definitely the summer anthem we all deserve. ‘Rare gets you hooked right away with a smooth, melodic chorus, following it up with two verses that show an extremely refined skill set for somebody so new to the game. Throughout the song, 2rare shows incredible restraint. While it may go unnoticed by the casual listener, it’s not easy to understand how to work with a beat and create one unified sound. What transforms lyrics, flow, and a beat into a hit is chemistry, and in “Big Drippa” 2rare is in sync with his production the entire time, and the result speaks for itself.
What makes “Big Drippa” so exciting is that it essentially functions as a 2rare showcase. ‘Rare’s potential to take over a summer a la Fetty Wap is obvious, but “Big Drippa” can easily double as a club banger, demonstrating a whole new lane 2rare can fill. ‘Rare is merely scratching the surface of his true potential and his product is already elite.
