2u4u I ‘Gurl’

2u4u‘s single “Gurl” is a tribute to classic hip hop.

2u4uis a group of three Rugby, UK artists who met in school. They bonded over the production of music, especially classics such as Baduizm and D’Angelo’s Voodoo. 

What stands out about 2U4U is their classic hip hop sound. It is rare that you hear such an accurate portrayal of the 90s to early 2000s rap come out of the UK. We all know that the UK is known for drill music and the aggressive rap style that has taken over in the United States. Hearing a New York style of rap coming out of the UK is very rare. It is beautiful to see the power of hip hop and how it has a world culture we all inspire each other. 

2U4U’s sound is similar to classic hip hop artists such as Common, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli. In their single “Gurl” they capture the romantic feelings these artists evoke along with attention to detail within their lyrics.
