Oliver | “Marley,” A Tribute To Activists
Rap Fiesta is proud to welcome Oliver and his latest single, “Marley,” to the scene. The deep-hitting song serves as an appreciation for Bob Marley and Winne Mandela. Oliver was inspired by the two individuals and their commitment to Black liberation as he crafted “Marley.”
Oliver was born and raised in Albany, New York. The growing rapper has been making music since high school but only started taking it seriously in 2020. As he created his first EP, “Stay With Us,” Oliver realized how powerful creating music is for him.
“Marley,” produced by Ishan Parashar, wraps you in an insanely wavy beat. The steady bass pattern blends into the additional elements incorporated into the song. That way, the mood is more relaxed and less intense than in trap rap songs.
The overall feel of the rhythm featured in “Marley” is calming and provides the perfect platform for Oliver to lay down his hard-hitting bars. The balance between the vocals and the beat couldn’t get any better. And each element is given the perfect amount of room to shine at the precise moment.
I wanted to make an anthem highlighting two individuals who I look up to and whose sacrifices should be revered, respected, and serve as a lesson to the current generation, Oliver.
When it came to the inspiration behind “Marley,” Oliver turned to two individuals who inspired him most; Bob Marley and Winnie Mandela. The rapper admired the two activists because they gave up financial gain and accolades in order to fight for human rights.
Additionally, Oliver noted that many political movements are deeply commercialized and are more often used for building a brand instead of creating a movement.
Lyrically speaking, Oliver didn’t hold back for a moment in “Marley.” The rapper addresses real-life issues that reign in the world today. Some of the topics the up-and-coming addresses include corporate greed, the police state, and the cost of chasing your dreams.
The flows Oliver delivers hit the ears just right. And the chorus featured in “Marley” is even smoother. Oliver does an incredible job balancing his hard-hitting bars with the lighter, more delicate chorus that always slides through just when you need it.
My music is very focused on self-reflection, personal growth, and the importance of community, Oliver.
Oliver’s stage name is his government name, as the rapper has always admired other artists who do the same. Some of his favorites include icons like Pharrell, Andre 3000, and Nas. To Oliver, using his real name provides humility and transparency to his fans, which is then incorporated into his music.
Make sure you give Oliver a follow on Instagram. The gifted rapper is working on a lot of exciting things for the future. For example, Oliver plans to release a new project at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024. Additionally, he will be performing at live shows alongside other talented artists!
Don’t waste another moment; go check out “Marley” by Oliver as soon as you can!
