Wendigo | Dirty 808’s Slap You In The Face
Here at Rap Fiesta, we love dirty 808s and unorthodox melodies. Producers that are comfortable enough to step outside the box and synchronize unusual sounds cohesively, almost always gain our attention. We are happy to introduce to you an embodiment of that aura. Wendigo is a 19-year-old trap producer who was bred in the heart of Manhattan, New York, and that New York City drip is evident in his beats. We recently met Wendigo in the outskirts of Queens, NY at an underground venue in Astoria where one of his artists Christ Dillinger had been performing.
Similar to his beats, the producer was high energy. He was stuck on max volume for the entire night. He was frequently seen leading a mosh pit in the crowd, and infecting enthusiasm in every crowd member. It was difficult not to catch a vibe from Wendigo, that energy seems contagious to his production. If you cant imagine what that energy is like, we put a little gift for you down below. Here’s a taste.
This beat is packed with dirty 808s and what sounds like screeching noises that low key resemble old Pokemon video games. Now if that’s not different, tell us what is. This joint is hype. It’s clear that Wendigo bleeds true energy into his tracks, and after meeting him- this point is only further validated. The fast hi-hats slap you in the face and take you for a ride, while the 808 pattern guides you into a state of frenzy. If you want a feeling of security don’t listen to this. You are not safe.
