The Onenta-based duo wrote, produced, and created their newest song in one night, allowing them to accurately capture the moment and high-energy emotions the time offered.
The inspiration behind “Where We From” wasn’t 100% clear at first. But Benito Loko explains the song turned out better than he or J Lou the Prophet envisioned.
J Lou and I knew that we wanted to create a high-energy track with elements of Afrobeats, Benito Loko, regarding his inspiration behind ‘Where We From.’
The creative duo definitely captured the high-energy feel they were looking for. Although the rhythm featured in “Where We From” starts out slow and airy, the vibe quickly shifts to something more dynamic.
The bass pattern that bounces throughout the song is one that’s instantly attention-grabbing. And the seamless blend of Afrobeat elements adds a special kick to the track. The rhythm is one you can listen to over and over again without getting bored.
Regarding the lyrics and various flows Benito Loko and J Lou the Prophet pour over the energetic beat, they’re must-listen. Although Benito Loko has only been making music for a couple of years, the rapper’s flows are elite. Each moment he gets a chance to shine, Benito Loko seizes the opportunity by pouring slick lyrics and flows over the self-produced beat.
J Lou the Prophet is in the same boat as Benito Loko. That said, J Lou the Prophet doesn’t miss. The rapper’s vocal cadence and flows differ from Benito Loko’s, making the song all that more unique. Further, J Lou the Prophet does an exceptional job molding his bars to highlight the energetic tones of the rhythm.

Perhaps what’s most impressive about “Where We From” is the fact that the rap dup created the song in a single day. Benito Loko and J Lou the Prophet were motivated to create something people hadn’t heard before. On top of that, they were driven to pay homage to their home city by creating a bop that people everywhere could enjoy.
As for Benito Loko, the rapper aims to release his debut album, “Californicated,” by the end of the year. The rapper produced, recorded, and mixed his debut project while working at Green Tea Studios in LA. In addition to that, you can expect a music video for “Where We From.”
J Lou the Prophet, on the other hand, will be releasing more singles that he’s recorded and produced himself. The gifted rapper also looks forward to working with Benito Loko on an EP in the near future.
