FRAUD | “RX”
The production found in “RX” puts distorted guitar progressions to good use. Taking a melancholic approach, “RX” (prod. by Wendigo) uses different instrumentation’s to symbolize an altered state of mind and feeling trapped inside of it. On the other hand, FRAUD emphasizes the song’s bigger purpose with an aggressive, concise rap delivery. Given this point, his words are more felt than heard.
Often times, the rapper draws from his tagline, “by my lonely” to get “RX’s” message across, “I wanted to make a track that felt very claustrophobic and dark.” he says “I was experimenting with a stream of consciousness writing styles that dive into the emptiness of addiction.”
Once the minute mark hits, FRAUD takes “RX” to reflect some more. In a monotone, he speaks on things like lonely nights, suicide thoughts and trying to find the silver lining. Furthermore, FRAUD even highlights a time when he was upset with how he’d text another because they couldn’t connect without getting intimate.
Then at the 1:25 mark, FRAUD reveals a mysterious coping mechanism, “nothing left but an addiction, trick to stop thinking/Pop a few than medicate/A remedy affliction.” Yet his drug of choice is far from an oxy or perk. Instead, it’s an undying hustle towards music, “Pipe dreaming bout the day we finally make it out the basement.”
