Chrlii | “Juice”
After the melodic tongue roll lets out, the multi-hyphenate Afrobeat musician, Chrlii works his magic on the ladies in “Juice.”
Between lyrics, Chrlii taps into his ‘big man, no coward’ demeanor, wowing the gals he crosses paths with. Given that his confidence is sky-high, he isn’t afraid to get straight to the point. As his newfound cutie sways to the beat, Chrlii tries to see how far she’ll go with him (after all, he can translate her body language). Luckily enough, Chrlii has assistance from the upbeat sound palette, which tests a fusion of Kompa and Zouk against oscillating wind percussion’s, lively drums, and sporadic (yet appeasing) synths: all elements that are note-worthy by default. Together, “Juice” makes the perfect soundtrack for showing off your drip, collecting digits, or breaking a sweat. One line from “Juice” that puts two-and-two together goes: “She likes my confidence, ego big like a monument.”
Chrlii says about “Juice,” “Piph and I were in the studio experimenting and creating like we always do, and I decided to look at some Afrobeat dance videos. I paused and said, ‘Man, I need to create something with a bounce like that.’ Thus “Juice” was born. We muted some dance videos on our TV screen and began cooking just the moves, and the facial expressions gave me the idea for ‘Juice.’
