Jxhar | “Different Route”
New York-based Jxhar breaks free of society’s view about getting ahead in his new single, “Different Route.”
On “Different Route,” Jxhar details how one opportunity changed his life. In his younger years, he’d often think of ways to make a buck instead of focusing on his school work. Even though Jxhar’s mom wanted him to focus on his grades, the rapper was thinking ahead, financially. Sure, school provides others with a piece of newfound knowledge on all subjects, but would it present them with opportunities to cash in a check?
Case in point, Jxhar learns the code from a good friend. And in turn, he finds himself with a wad of money. While things are looking bright for the artist, his career choice leaves his mom in a panic. Before the song ends, Jxhar lets it be known that he doesn’t need clout or handouts. He also calls out the phonies that are trying to make amends all of a sudden.
“Different Route” carries an upbeat, spacey soundscape full of piano loops and hallow coos. Vocally, he uses a singsong cadence. One notable line from the song goes, “We did it by ourself/Can’t rock no designer/I got roses on my belt.”
