Kaarmaa. | “Limits”, DBZ Inspirational Heater
Kaarmaa. out of the Bay Area came hard with his latest release “Limits” featuring Fiks Martin & S.O.S. The record was engineered exclusively by Ronin and was released this past July, just in time for some a much-needed escape from the Quarantine-riddled world. This joint will truly have you feeling as if you’re another dimension, and if you’re a fan of Anime, especially Dragon Ball Z, you couldn’t have clicked on this article at a more opportune time. Karmaa is big on team effort & reached into the vault to get this record completed. His graphic designer Kross Campbell from Canada is an animation savant & came in clutch with the sweet artwork. All in all, the squad came full circle to create a record to captivate you, and entrance you.
I have been an avid fan of the Dragon Ball franchise, watching every incarnation of the franchise growing up, from Dragon Ball, to Dragon Ball Z, to Dragon Ball Z, and even Dragon Ball Z: Kai. I had long fell in love with the Original Sound Track by composer Bruce Faulconer in the remastered version of the Dragon Ball Z series, and for months I collected a variety of beats and melodies that were remixes and recreations of the originals. My song “Limits” was inspired by the hit anime show, Dragon Ball Super. I fell hard for the show’s music, but the song “Limit Break” caught my eyes (or my ears rather), the most. This song was about the frustrations with constantly being in second place, or even in last place, in life’s long, grueling race. It acknowledges how, with a little diligence and pride, anyone can catch up to our bitter rival that always stays one step ahead of us: fate. In other words, I wanted to show people what it feels like to make your own destiny rather than just accept it for what it is. Featuring 7iks Martin, a fellow rapper from South Africa I met on weekly #4BarFriday submissions (started by NBA superstar Damian Lillard) on Instagram, and S.O.S. (Self Observing Scriptor), an aspiring creative writer and my best friend since middle school, “Limits” is my first official collaboration with another artist. Absolutely proud of accomplishing this milestone. Disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the original score, and all rights go to composer Bruce Faulconer and Funimation Studios. – Kaarmaa.
With dreams, came fruition & Kaarmaa. manifested this record purely off grit and determination. You can hear the willpower in his vocals, and it’s clear the artist is on a tear to control his direction to success. Don’t allow other people to place limitations on you, and always be a rule-breaker on your way to the top, is the beautiful takeaway message of ‘Limits’ from Rap Fiestas’ perspective. With great lyrical content & radical verses to spark changes in individuals- Kaarmaa. was kind enough to fill us in on how his inspiring mentality came about, and where his musical journey began,
I have only been making music for less than a year due to focusing my time on college academia, but I have been rapping and writing songs for over 6 six years, beginning in my senior year of high school. Once I graduated college, I was able to finally able to focus my attention on music, investing time and money in a home studio and the necessary recording equipment. Starting in October 2019 until now, I have been releasing single after single on my SoundCloud, while working at my standard 9-5 job. When the pandemic struck, I had more time on my shoulders since I was laid off from work. Like the late Kobe Bryant, I harnessed my inner “Mamba Mentality” and accelerated everything by 1000%, honing my songwriting and mixing skills, working on lyrical videos, collecting beats, and investing in promotions. One day, I finally decided it was time to finally apply all my training into working on my first EP, Inst!nct, a Dragon Ball Z-themed music project comprised of 7 total songs, after the 7 wish-granting dragon balls from the show. I chose this childhood classic as the EP’s thematic concept because it resonates with so many people who watched it growing up, essentially bringing out a sense of nostalgia. Furthermore, the project explores the concept of breaking past human limitations by becoming the impossible, an idea that would be greatly welcomed as motivation given current events. My hope is that this project would give people hope and strength in a period of uncertainty and fear. Furthermore, the EP, currently still in development, will help introduce me as an aspiring independent artist in the music industry, as well as test out everything I’ve learned in the past 9 months on my own with my music endeavors. – Kaarmaa.
With a beautiful beginning story and a mindset to execute his plans, Kaarmaa. is surely on his way to the top of the totem. His next plans include his 7-track EP, “Inst!nct”, that’s planned for Late November and was inspired by the 7 Dragon Balls in DBZ. Simply from talking to the artist, his passion for his upcoming EP is apparent. He continuously ties in elements together that are meaningful to him, and as a result, that passion will be felt by the listener and reciprocated in unalloyed enjoyment. With room to grow and build off his niche start, be sure to follow Kaarmaa. on Instagram and SoundCloud to never miss another drop.
