KutieBlue | “Build Me Up”, Brooklyn’s Favored Female Artist
Brooklyn Artist KutieBlue is turning heads with her latest single “Build Me Up” featuring Jus Dee. The record is engulfed in seductive energy, and the beautifully talented KutieBlue doesn’t cease to impress. Her demeanor on the record is enticing, and her confidence is inspiring. On this record, she empowers women and addresses men who pray on her downfall blazingly. KutieBlue is a woman with serious rap talent, and based on the lyrical content alone- is a woman who won’t be played with.
“Why you tryna hate? N*gga build me up. I just iced out the wrist, got the Patek in the truck”. – KutieBlue
Having been raised all over New York City, you can feel the grittiness in her tone. There’s a certain respect that comes with being from the Big Apple, and you can feel that presence in KutieBlue’s voice. It’s clear she’s been through the struggle and came out of it powerful. Right from the intro, she comes in talking that talk. She knows what her worth is, and won’t let any man tell her otherwise. It’s these types of leaders that women in Hip-Hop should look to when they’re feeling insecure because KutieBlue has enough confidence to go around. KutieBlue picks her pockets wisely on the Shareef Keyes produced record. Her flow is tactical and gives off boss-like energy. It’s the type of record you’ll bump at the club when you’re trying to go wild & build yourself up, hence the track name, “Build Me Up”. The contrast verse she gets from Jus Dee is impactful as well. These two play off each other colorfully, and the combination is sure to add some fuel to your fire.
Rap Fiesta was lucky enough to chat with KutieBlue and ask her what motivated this ambitious and fiery track, and the budding star told us,
“Well, this song is going to be on my upcoming project “High Maintenance” which is just about being expensive, being yourself, being sexy, and shaking that ass. So when I came across the beat I was instantly like “Oh yeah, I gotta write to this“, and with the help of Jus Dee (shoutout to him), we came up with a dope track.”
Having fun and creating bangers is all the Brooklyn rapper seems to be about, and thankfully we’re the beneficiaries of her talent. The story of how she got into music is just as free-flowing as her sound, here’s the story,
“How it started is pretty funny. Growing up as a Brooklyn kid who didn’t make little raps, and dances- It wasn’t until I made a Thotiana freestyle on the gram just playing around back in 2019, and it actually gained traction. I’m like, “Oh okay maybe I could do this rap shit.”. Fast forward, I hit Jus Dee up and was like “Yo, I wanna be a rapper”, and of course he was like “Yeah, okay”. He didn’t take me seriously at all until he was looking for a female rapper to hop on one of his tracks. He constantly got the run around every time he would hit up a female to collab. He eventually gave in, and said “F*ck it, you wanna be a rapper? Then prove it, and hop on this track with me”. I did, and the rest was history.”
With an organic come up story and some star-studded records to propel her into the mainstream, her success story is inevitable. She told Rap Fiesta she’s dedicated to mastering her craft, and based off her latest record, we can tell she’s serious. Being an independent artist isn’t easy, but her team at Live Through Dreams Entertainment seems to be running in the right direction. With some big collabs on the way, and more projects coming down the pipeline, this seems to be KutieBlue’s year.
