Slim Noir | “Eyes Wide Shut”, A Zenful Experience

Slim Noir out of Montclair, NJ and his brand new single “Eyes Wide Shut” featuring Cenny Ray, are breaking the mold of modern Hip-Hop with illustrious choruses, and verses that bring lesser known styles of Hip-Hop back into the spotlight. Slim Noir’s style is highlighted by darker tones, but contrasted by his subject matter. His vocal tone is deep, but his lyrics focus on the calm of the storm. In other words, his piece “Eyes Wide Shut” gives listeners clarity on how to maintain their center, and not crumble when the world is falling.

The Dre Rodner produced beat provides classical rap nostalgia that incorporates the hustle & bustle of metropolitan areas that give the sense of business, without clouding the beat. It’s truly beautiful in that sense. The instrumental provides the perfect beat canvas for Slim Noir to paint vivid pictures of achieving a higher-self.

It’s not often we’re lucky enough for the creator to shed light on his intention of his art, but in this case, this is exactly what the listener can expect to extract from “Eyes Wide Shut”. Yoga, meditation & self-awareness will all illicit a similar effect to the Montclair rapper’s latest record. Slim was also kind enough to shed some light on his interesting moniker,

I’ve been a movie buff my whole life, and my favorite genre is crime.  I’m especially sentimental toward old school film noirs, so as a slim dude, the name Slim Noir came to me naturally
