Just because the hip-hop industry overlooks Thecity right now, it doesn’t stop him from continuously dropping fire tracks like ‘3am‘. An emerging artist from Upland, California, Thecity gives you an inside look at what it’s like to grind in his hometown. Thecity’s hometown, Upland, California, is located on the outskirts of Los Angeles. As most know, L.A. is a vibrant city that’s well-known for being home to a number of the industry’s best musical talent.
Within the first minute of listening to ‘3am’, you find yourself hooked. Right from the start, Thecity spits an insanely smooth flow over an emo-rap style beat featuring a somber, persistent bass bumping in the backdrop. The cadence gives off an eerie and dark vibe that fits the tone of voice and lyrics during the track.

Despite dealing with struggles, the lyrics in ‘3am’ share that Thecity isn’t about to stop grinding until he finds massive success for himself and those closest to him.
Thecity takes great pride in his music as well as his hometown. Being close to Los Angeles, Thecity has had the opportunity to be up close and personal with incredible talent. However, he often feels the talent in Upland is overlooked because of the stars in Los Angeles. Rap Fiesta had the chance to ask Thecity what it’s like living so close to a metropolis packed with celebrities.

His newest project, ‘Outskirts,’ is centered around what Thecity’s life was like growing up in Upland. The project shares how the town shaped him as a musician. Thecity wasn’t shy to admit he has had help creating his catchy music. The Upland rapper receives support producing beats from independent producers in California and France for his current and past projects. Thecity is open to collaborating with other like-minded artists, proving he’s willing to take whatever steps necessary to create a fire song.
