Jaya YC portrays the dark feelings of depression perfectly with his newest single, ‘Static,’ now available on all streaming platforms. The Seattle, Washington artist dug deep to tap into emotions that are often difficult to describe accurately.
Starting in 2017, Jaya YC began to make and play around with music. Because of the drastic changes he made to his music style, Jaya YC considered a year ago to be the official start of his career. With taking music seriously for only a year, Jaya YC already shows massive potential.
Regarding Jaya YC’s stage name, there are several different meanings all wrapped inside. Jaya, pronounced Jay-UH, is an alternate version of his birth-given name, Jaden. In Hindi, the name Jaya means ‘Victorious’, something Jaya YC will undoubtedly be.
The second half of Jaya YC‘s stage name also carries meaning for another side of the artist. Here at Rap Fiesta, we got the opportunity to catch up with him and hear firsthand the meaning behind ‘YC.’

‘Static,’ produced by NextLane, highlights a beat that portrays Jaya YC’s emotions perfectly. Several elements come together in the rhythm to give off an emo-rap feel similar to Juice WRLD or The Kid LAROI.
As soon as you hit play on ‘Static,’ the beat is going to drag you deep into your feelings. Consistently quick hi-hats give the beat a trap feel. Additionally, deep 808’s give off the solemn vibe that Jaya YC connects with. Overall, the rhythm has several moving parts that come together to create a dark, melancholy feeling.
Jaya YC’s inspiration for ‘Static‘ results from enduring a low point in his life. Instead of burying his emotions, Jaya YC composed a song with hard-hitting truth that connects with anyone who has experienced depression.

At the start of ‘Static,’ Jaya YC wastes no time connecting with the listener on a personal level. After letting the beat drop, the growing artist hits you with a chorus that shakes your soul as his melodic voice rings through the speakers.
Throughout the entire song, Jaya YC continuously switches up his flow, keeping you at the edge of your seat with anticipation. The young rapper alternates from singing to rapping with no hitches in between any transition. At certain parts in ‘Static,’ Jaya YC gives his voice an echoey effect, which further contributes to the track’s overall depressing vibe.
One significant part of ‘Static’ that can’t go without recognition is the emotion Jaya YC pours into his lyrics. The lyrics are relatively simple yet still connect with the deepest parts of your heart.
Still static, feel crowded. Lonely becoming a habit. Still static, and I’m drowning. Anchored down by pain I imagine.
Jaya YC is a truly gifted musician, as he recorded, mixed, and mastered ‘Static’ to a level that’s ready to go up against industry leaders. The ability of Jaya YC to work so many moving parts into his vocals while also writing lyrics with an immense amount of truth behind them is undeniably impressive.
