Nojo Wallace | ‘Billy II (Billy’s Revenge)’
Nojo Wallace is out for blood in his latest project, Billy II (Billy’s Revenge). He strikes back through directly illustrative lyrics, effortless flows, and quick-witted punchlines. However, the actual sneak attack is Nojo’s intuitiveness. If you think you can pull one on him, you are mistaken. He supplies the snakes, haters, and fortune hunters out there with cut-throat rhymes that are bound to make them think twice about their motives.
The beats at hand are inspired by various genres, including jazz, lo-fi, soul, afrobeat, and hip-hop. Wholeheartedly, Nojo Wallace’s wordplay is reminiscent of when hip-hop truly thrived. We dive into his inner thoughts as he speaks about remaining optimistic, wooing the ladies, and taking over the hip-hop game. In summary, he’s been the golden child.
One standout track off the project is “Don’t Want Me (feat. Freegame).“
On “Don’t Want Me,” both rappers call out women who didn’t give them the time of day before they became successful. Over the 2000’s-esque jazzy lo-fi hip-hop beat, he spits:
“Like she in love with a nigga/I know she cappin/Cause you wasn’t showing me that same love back then/Tell me what happened.”
To summarize, she claims to be a fan, but we know what’s her goal. After this, Nojo Wallace expresses that she seduces him. He can’t help to give in because she’s a sight for sore eyes.
Despite it all, he can’t help but give into temptation. His feelings also play a part in the situationship.
“All the homies told me bout the games you play/But still I took a stab just like my name OG.”
Although he is in awe of her, he refuses to be blindsided by her actions.
“And I be lying if I said I wasn’t down for you/But I’m not into playing games I know I’m bound to lose.”
Freegame presumes that the girl he’s with only loves him for his assets. But he’s still down to treat her right.
Using a smooth flow, he raps
“You probably don’t even love me, can’t even recite my rhymes/But still I give you all that I’ve got.”
If she decides to bounce, he has other women on speed dial. Nonetheless, he won’t take them seriously because they’re money snatchers. Freegame adds commentary about people changing when fame and money are in the equation. He’s more focused on money than settling down.
