LDP | “Hebrews 12”, Emotionally Captivating Rap Album
Alabama rapper LDP is making waves with the release of his debut album “Hebrews 12”. The 10-track album features dynamic records that were inspired by LDP’s real-life struggles &
the emotional pressures of navigating tough times while carefully crafting these experiences into certified bangers. His skill set shines on an array of sounds that range from Kevin Gates to DaBaby & even YNW Melly on certain records. LDP’s versatility is among the most attractive qualities of his burgeoning sound & one that is readily apparent & enjoyed upon “Hebrews 12”.
From the first record “Feel My Pain”, LDP wastes no time commanding the listener into his headspace. The immediate emersion of the somber chorus among the sad-trap production is emotional, raw & smoothly soothing. He almost sounds a bit like Nate Dogg on that hook, but as soon as the chorus ends he masterfully transitions into a speedier cadence that shows his fierceness & passion for his upbringing. He doesn’t waste a bar on “Feel My Pain” & capitalizes on the initial record to emotionally grab you for the whole ride of “Hebrews 12”. He then proceeds to get sinister on “Scandal” which is a warning shot to those who surround themselves with bad company. LDP’s flow has a serious bounce on this joint & the lyrics are super catchy. The chorus especially, which LDP seems to have a knack for on the whole ride of “Hebrews 12”.
“Man, watch your back it’s a set up” – LDP
Always the vulnerable rapper showing us that he has nothing to hide, he turns back the tide on mortality with the release of “Geraldine”. The beautifully written record highlights his late grandmother’s life & the role she played in molding him to become the man he is today. The record oozes feel & love, and we know LDP’s grandma is shining down us from the Heaven’s after this illuminating record.
Family is a recurring theme in the project, and LDP had a faith-centered upbringing. We had the chance to connect with LDP & he gave us insight into his early love for music & family life,
“ I started playing the drums around 6 joined the church choir and was a part of it in college where I studied welding. I mostly like to write. I’m a preacher’s kid so music has always been a part of my life.”
From the son of a preacher arose a hardened rap artist. One who can cite his emotions in musical form with the utmost rap ability. “Hebrews 12” is poetic, and will enrapture you from the first listen. LDP’s figurative expression is a center piece in how the artist developed,
“I go by LionDaPoet ( L.D.P ) for short. I’ve always been fascinated with lions since a kid lion king is my favorite movie. But i’ve always been told I had a heart of a lion. I’m a real big on poetry, always ready to share my works and listen to some open mic. So I developed the name LionDaPoet. It is my personality”
With tasteful respect for the sentimental value of the art, LDP beautifully weaves that ideology with hard-hitting rap records on “Hebrews 12”. It’s the perfect balance between expressiveness and bangers. Whether you’re looking for a vibe to accompany you among the hard times in for life or records to get your body movin’ LDP synthesizes all of these emotions on “Hebrew 12”. The album was released this past Juneteeth and with more records in the vault and a hungry LDP to lead the way, we can be expecting him to build on the catalog & even release a few music videos to provide more depth to his artistry. He painted the picture so vividly with “Hebrews 12” and illustrated images with a masterful pen game on the album. Do yourself a favor & stay in the loop with LDP by following him on Instagram.
