Showtime is quickly establishing himself as a role model for the younger generation, and records like this will continue to excel the conversation.
“You might not be my blood, but you my lil bro” – Showtime Ra
The NY BANGERS produced record not only produced Young M.A’s hit single “OOOUUU” but is now igniting new flames with Showtimes “Lil Bro”. Having been dropping music for nearly 6 years now, it seems as Showtime has hit the nail on the head with his latest record. This joint really draws on you emotionally, and Showtime’s raw energy and passion is felt with every bar unleashed. His positive message is one that can resonate in every NYC neighborhood to empower the youth to make better decisions.
In the music video, Showtime is seen sharing gems of knowledge to the youth and encouraging them to follow the right path. His choice of words are powerful as he depicts vivid imagery of gun violence impacting the world. He’s truly redefining the landscape of rap and we’re all here for it.
We had the chance to sit down with Showtime and ask him why he decided to create such a positive record, and his answer was emotionally charged,
“When I was 8 years old my father was shot and killed at a party in Brooklyn NY. Right now there is currently a spike in gun violence in the city so I had to do what I do best, put the message in the music. I’m also a middle school math teacher and I see kids everyday idolizing the wrong things so I feel it’s a calling for me to help them see the reality of what they think is “cool”.” – Showtime RA
The simple fact is, we need more rappers like Showtime to arrive and continue the movement. The beauty is we already have a talented artist in Showtime who can bring the message forward and intertwine it with an actual record that people can resonate with and enjoy sonically.
Showtime clearly suffered an early trauma in the death of his father at such a young age, but he was able to turn it into a positive and influence the live of many. His stage name was actually his fathers, an acclaimed Hip-Hop dancer who toured with the legendary Hip-Hop duo Nice N Smooth.
As for his next moves, he just dropped a new project titled, “Time 2 Show Vol.4” which is a sequel to a series he started in 2018. “Lil Bro” is actually the first single off the 7-track EP and can be streamed every where. With this current trajectory of music from the budding star, it’s safe to say we can expect more heat in the future.
