Vaughn Lambo | Flint Rapper Ignites Hopes with Single ‘Uber’
Introducing Vaughn Lambo. The 27 year old Flint, Michigan rapper hopes to be the hero his city deserves after tumultuous treatment by his local government. To still be here today, he has overcome many obstacles. He is native of a land where his water is poisoned, and the youth is neglected. Troubling issues for any other part of the world, but not a story we are used to hearing in America. Given a chance to get out, the rapper states why he can’t leave.
I got nieces, nephews and god children here who I need to make a way for.
The rapper has been doing just that. His fire and passion is apparent in his in-your-face flow with his single ‘Uber’. Uber is a car service, but also serves as a symbol to escape your current location. The title may cleverly indicate that Vaughn Lambo is always on the move, but the double meaning within it serves to reveal that he cannot simply “uber” out of his situation and leave his family behind. Ironically, he uses that symbol to navigate flows and elucidate why his success is inevitable. He dictates in his lyricism, that his peers in the city are simply clones of each other and he stands out based off his originality. The fire in his voice is evident, and the use of doubles and ad-libs throughout the verses further add to the liveliness. The passion is clear as day in his tone. The chorus in the track seemingly switches minutely throughout each progressing hook. This little subtle detail subconsciously adds spontaneity. He brilliantly allows the listener to get comfortable with the chorus and expect that same catchy flow, but throws in little twists to keep them interested.
Despite the masterful touches that can only be observed when listening close, at face value this track bumps. It’s aggressive style is rejuvenating and should only be played at high volume. It’s one of those songs that revitalize you, and give you organic energy. He spits hard and picks his spots wisely. There is absolutely no way to listen to this song and not feel some sort of contagious hype energy. Vaughn Lambo showed his skill with this joint and did his hometown of Flint proud.
