Lil Skies ‘Shelby’ Laced With Organic Melodies & Vibrant Tunes
Lil Skies dropped a surprise album last night titled ‘Shelby‘ and it’s a strong follow up to Life of a Dark Rose that debuted last January and reached No. 10 on the Billboard’ 200. A strong feat by any rapper in todays day and age. He follow’s that work of art with the 14-track album ‘Shelby’ paying strong homage to his mother to whom after it is named. The album itself mainly contains no features, having just 3 features in total from other artists. It seems to be more of an intimate album as the 3 features he obtained were from Hip-Hop moguls Gucci Mane, Gunna & to nobody’s surprise, his best friend Landon Cube who helped achieve his stardom.
The album itself is a similar vibe that Lil Skies has danced around before, and an idea that seems to still persist in the 20 year old PA rapper. He still does not trust the people around him, and the paranoia of being rich and famous is one that lingers in his mind. In his track ‘Bad Girls’ with Gucci Mane he holds the viewpoint that there are plenty of groupies who are still trying to obtain an important place in the young rappers life, which is he why he solidifies the fact that he need’s a “good girl” instead of a “bad girl”. In the album as well, he goes back to the very style that is so loved by his fans, and what got him to this point. His ability to tote simplistic flows with deep meaning and wield them in melodic choruses that loop endlessly in the listeners cranium. He doesn’t confuse his listeners with fast rapping, or complicated lyrics. He paints the picture vividly and does so by making every word count. Truly another masterful product by the young rapper who continues to improve with time. Bravo, Lil Skies.
Skies has also revealed that he will be co-headlining a tour with the notorious Lil Pump, who just recently dropped his project Harverd Dropout. A big upcoming year for the ambitious rapper is in store, be sure you follow it along & stream his new album.
