Keith Rice | “Yote” Timeless Project
Keith Rice, formerly known as KinG! just gifted us with truly timeless music. The artist dropped his latest album “Yote” pronounced like the second half of the word coyote, on August 20th.
Ever since the first time I heard this project, I knew a ton of work was put into it. The time that Keith spent recording and producing this project turned it into an ageless album. With vocals that remind me of Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak, mixed with old school hip-hop beats, and eccentric instrumentals, the artist is able to maintain his individual identity. Believe me, Keith Rice is a name you want to know.
Born in Lancaster, Keith’s unique sound is attributed to his blend of upbringings in Detroit, Georgia, and The Valley (LA). The artists impressive creative process of using a combination of different samples of voices/instruments/sounds (usually recorded on the Voice Memos of his phone) makes each record one of a kind. It’s hard to choose a favorite song on this project, but if I had to choose, ’Edna’ would be my favorite. Keith identified ‘Edna’, which was produced by himself and Eli as the “easiest” song to make on the album and explained that his process started out by laying some soft guitar sounds he played and then adding airy vocals on top of the instrumentals.
