Bird Bennett | Angles, A Track To Boost Your Confidence
We all love songs that speak to us and make us feel something more when we are listening. If you can really feel a song in your chest, the artist is definitely doing something right. Music can guide us, inspire us, and be there for us. When I first heard “Angles” by Bird Bennett, I was instilled with uplifting energy and I instantly felt good about myself. It was the type of song I could sing into my hairbrush while getting ready to leave the house.
Blanco The Wiz produced Angles and created a track that has a catchy keyboard riff and bright drums. The breaks in the beat flow perfectly with the lyrical content and melodies, while elements are also being added or played with. Overall, this track is upbeat, catchy, and something that definitely gives people energy. His lyrical content is rich with wordplay and metaphors, for example,
Clockin’ in on my paid leave
Last year I ain’t get no sleep
Shot a roll on my fisheye
Reeled it in in like 1 week.
-Bird Bennett
This adds yet another memorable layer to his song. The use of metaphors and allusions in his lyrics allows for listeners to interpret the song in a way that is unique to them, but consistent with the overall message. NE Portland, Oregon raised rapper, Bird Bennett emphasized the importance of recognizing that you are the only person that can judge yourself and when he raps about getting every angle, he wants people to look at themselves and have a boost to their ego.
Bird has created a song that not only embodies the assurance he has in himself but wants to inspire others to have as well. When I talked to Bird, he told me he wanted to make a song that embodied,
[The] persona of Bird Bennett… There is this whole idea of Bird Bennett where he is just like cocky as hell and pretty much I needed to make a song that could be some shit that I listen to when I am trying to get ready, trying to feel good. I was tryna make something that was like… you know people could listen to a song and like make them feel like ‘damn I look good and I feel like a better person.’ -Bird Bennett
Here at Rap Fiesta, we think he nailed it. In the future, Bird will be releasing a video for “Angles.” He is also working on a collaboration EP with Blanco The Wiz that will be released towards the end of this month. Lastly, he is planning on releasing an album solely produced by himself by early 2021. Bird has just recently begun to learn music theory and pick up some instruments, we can’t wait to hear what he has in store.
