BMAR | “Our Graceful Obedient Death”
Pennsylvania’s very own BMAR is making headlines again with the release of his latest album “Our Graceful Obedient Death“. He was last seen on Rap Fiesta with the release of his flow-bending single “Last Breath” that caught the attention and psyches of fans everywhere. He mentioned to us back in March of 2021 when he dropped that single that he was working on “OGOD”, and the whopping 17-song album has finally arrived. Boy, was this worth the wait.
Having only been out on platforms for 24 hours, “OGOD” is being received by audiences beautifully. In just the first night of streaming its garnered over 15,000 streams and is continuing to put up impressive numbers in its debut.
With the monumental amount of effort put into this project, BMAR has released 7 music videos to continue the momentum for “OGOD” and is successfully delighting audiences globally under Gutter Rose Entertainment. The album generates a mix of emotions with BMAR displaying his vulnerabilities, and draws you in from the sheer rawness. His style combines elements of many genres, with aspects of punk-chords & distorted vocals on “Lost In Translation” into more rap-centered records like “Home” and “Rockstar“. With “Rockstar” in particular he starts the record off reminding us of the late-great Speaker Knockerz and then rips into an Eminem like flow of rapid-fire spitting, and then transitions into soothing, and airy vocals. The diverseness of sounds he’s able to achieve on “OGOD” is nothing short of thrilling.
On “Open Scars“, he showcases masterful versatility combining singing vocals and transitioning between more aggressive rap vocals. While he does have a few features on the album in Official Hec, Jesse, KLD Wave, Yeshiii, and the Paper Outlet to name, at times it truly does feel like BMAR featuring BMAR because of the seemingly never-ending flows and tones he pulls out of the arsenal.
As BMAR describes his intentions for making the album, it’s clear the theme and plans for “OGOD” were well thought-out and strategized for quite some time. We were able to dive into BMAR’s headspace to extract his inspiration for “OGOD” and it did not disappoint,
“I wanted to make the soundtrack to the psyche of disobedience. That’s why you get tracks like “Heartless”, “Last Breath”, “Searching, “Lost in Translation” etc. Instead of just talking about it, I want the listener to follow me on this journey of hardship, trails & heartbreak, & really feel these emotions” – BMAR
BMAR’s consistency under Gutter Rose Entertainment has been nothing short of immaculate. He’s already dropped 7 visuals for the project, and he’s followed that up with another 10 new songs in less than a year. The man is simply a work horse. It’s hard to see this amount of material and production arrive from a single artist in that short of a span, but BMAR increased his quantity while somehow managing to level up on quality. A dangerous dynamic for an artist who is still on the heels of his true potential.
He ends the ride of “OGOD” with an introspective and absolutely stunning record in “Life” that sums up the experience of this beautiful journey we’re all on. He combines soft singing vocals that will nourish you, while talking to you on an even platform in his rap transitions. “OGOD” is an album that will extract emotions and demand you to think about your own life and provide you with the comfort to do it. From rap bangers, to soft rock slappers and everything in between- BMAR served his listeners and truly did it all on “OGOD”.
You would truly be at a disadvantage if you haven’t bumped through this album from cover-to-cover. As for what’s next for BMAR, he’s set high expectations for himself after “OGOD”- and if his track record means anything, it’s safe to say we can see a lot more production coming from the Pennsylvania artist. For now, you’ll have to follow BMAR on Instagram to stay in tune with the latest.
