Burgettii | Interview on Success, Future Albums, & 1 Year Anniversary Since Last Rap Fiesta Interview
The last time we spoke to Burgettii he was doing crazy numbers on his last project, “Who Are You“. This was about one year ago, and since then Burgettii has been on a bright trajectory. He’s dropped 2 projects since then, and a plethora of singles. Unaccustomed to success, his previous work continue to impress as did his last project with Shiloh Dynasty.
It has only been one year since we interviewed Burgetti and his story. We were lucky enough to get the chance for another interview. We talk about everything from the break up that inspired his rap career, to future albums he has in the works, and a recap of our 1 year anniversary since his last interview.
We got all the details out of the way on this one. Check out Rap Fiesta’s interview with Burgettii below.
Hey brother, it’s been about a year and a half since our last interview. What has changed for you since then?
Hey man its good hearing from you, a lot of things have changed in the past year and a half. The impact we’re reaching for went from 500,000 total to 15,000,000. I’ve met a lot of fellow artists and built long term relationships with them which is amazing. It’s nice to go from 500,000 by myself to 15,000,000 and fellow big artists supporting my music as well.
You & your ex left on a bad note from what you told us the last time we spoke. Have you come in to contact with your ex since 2016?
My ex and I have not spoken since we last talked as I’ve ventured onward with my life. I had to learn and teach myself that she wasn’t the only female on the planet for me. I also had to think deep down “if I could go back and prevent myself from making the mistake I made, would it have changed anything?” Because if you think about it we hold onto all the good times we had when we go through a break up, and we imagine how perfect it was. But in reality we don’t know what would’ve happened if I hadn’t did my part in the downfall of our relationship. In other words it could’ve died out by the end of that year (2017), or even the year after that (2018).
Your music has always been vulnerable & never shies away from mental health discussions. How has your mental health been since we last spoke?
My mental health has rebounded itself by 100%. Yes, I will say I let my hardships with the break up drag out for way too long but I had to stand up and be a human. I asked myself, “Am I gonna sit here and dwell over the outcome of the relationship for the rest of my life? Or am I gonna stand up, admit my mistakes, fix those mistakes, and move forward with my life?”, And that’s exactly what I did. I moved forward I constantly reminded myself “She’s not the only one for you” and after moving to Florida I can agree she’s definitely not the one like I thought she was and in fact far from it. After being in relationships over time I’ve learned what a real relationship is like, and that was not a real relationship. I could compare it to a high school break up…and nobody stresses over their “high school break up”
You had a lot of things going for you when you dropped that Shiloh Dynasty album, “Who Are You”. What’s new on the music side of things for you?
Since then I dropped a “Who Are You Part 2” which did just as good as the first one. Unfortunately, I haven’t had plans to create a 3rd anytime soon. The first album was a collab album with 2 other artists (fellow friends at the time), but due to conflicts of interest, one of them went down his own path separate from us. The second album (part 2) contained myself and the other fellow artist, and the required streams to be a successful album was met. But since then he has gone down his own path in the music industry leaving me as the last man standing with the game plan I had from the get go for all of us.
I know a lot of people are probably hitting you up to drop more songs similar to that album. Do you have any plans on dropping new tunes with a similar vibe?
I won’t spoil it but album 3 drops July 3rd “Darkness Meets World” which contains a couple of banger tracks. Outside of that, in 2020 I’ll be dropping some bar for bar tracks vs my normal Lofi but I have a lot coming your way and we’re nowhere near done.
You recently released a new collaborative project titled ‘Beautiful’ with Shiloh Dynasty, and golden children. Can you tell us a little bit more about that album?
We had 12 beats we collaborated on to work with, but I only wanted to be on one out of the entire album. That way fans would listen through to find which one I’m on. My name got put onto all of them due to complications on how the track would get on my page. We finished it back in September of 2019, and submitted the entire album in November for release in January 2020. In the end, “Paper Bag Interlude” made it onto a big Playlist reaching upwards of 920,000 streams a month and turning out to be my most performing song yet.
Is the “Darkness Meets World” a solo project or a collaborative one?
Pass, it’s a surprise
Why is it your preference to work with other artists rather than drop solo projects?
It’s not that I don’t like doing solo projects in fact I’m almost done with my first solo project. I’ve been in the studio day in, and day out since I moved to Florida. But I like to work with other producers while giving them the credit they deserve. But all that is about to change soon.
I saw you’ve been hosting IG live sessions in the studio the other night. How have you been connecting with your fans these days?
I’ve been doing anything and everything to connect with my fans, from group chats to Instagram live to giveaways, it was a slow start but the numbers have gone up recently with a lot more attention from my fans and supporters.
What have been the newest challenges for you since dropping ‘Beautiful’ & ‘Who Are You, Pt. 2?’
I’d say by biggest challenge is label/distribution challenges. I’m not talking bad about my team in any fashion, I can confidently say without them I wouldn’t be as far as I am. But there’s loose ends on the back end that seem like everlasting hurdles. But it’s nothing I can’t deal or work with as I haven’t been pushed to leave by their actions yet (which I can at anytime) in all honesty they do a good job for me and that’s all I ask for.
What will the world be expecting next from Burgettii & how have you grown as an artist since we last spoke?
There’s a lot that has yet to come in my music career, I feel we’ve all just begun the process. In future terms burgettii steps out of the realm of Lofi and into the bar for bar style rap. We’re working with a lot of bigger artists and I’m in talks over 4-5 music videos this year in Itself. I feel I’ve grown tremendously from my sad Lofi boy years (2017-2018) to who I am now. I’ve learned to not dwell on the past and instead take advantage of what’s in front of me, making it a lot easier to focus on the big picture and perform better. I sat down and started breaking down other artists lyrics learning new, and different flows, and ways to rhyme lyrics while keeping a catchy flow. You can hear this in my unreleased track ‘Canva’ coming soon.
