C4RTER | ‘Roll Wit Me’, High RnB Prowess
Rap Fiesta Fam, if you are single do not listen to “Roll Wit Me” by C4RTER before bed. Nostalgic dreams about old flames are sure to follow. Trust me, I know. I received this song in an MP3 file that included the word “draft” in its name. Mr. Carter, this is not a draft. This is an artistic masterpiece. The beat is tropical and exotic, and although the beat is most likely keyboard-produced, I’d testify in court that it was fabricated by capturing the authentic sounds of water bubbles popping as they break the surface and a musically motivated woodpecker with an incredible sense of rhythm. I would honestly listen to the beat on its own, but fused with MC’s angelic vocals, the result is simply ethereal.
If aliens came from another planet and said “play us one RnB song and we will judge the entire genre,” I really wouldn’t hesitate. MC’s voice is like if The Weeknd went through puberty a second time, and then someone delicately infused it with 8% of Andre 3000. Seriously, we need to get word out to any animal breeders that are having trouble because “Roll Wit Me” is the answer. The lyrics are vivid and relatable. Similar to the way Tee Grizzley’s lyrics ring true and authentic, MC’s lyrics are instantly identifiable as genuine and un-fabricated.
“Backwoods and good sex, Chardonnay and lingerie, we’re gonna make this a night you wont forget, or regret. To the sky take me high, like a mountain, you; I want to climb. Lay back and close your eyes you’re in for a surprise.” – C4RTER
The most impressive part of MC’s delivery is the way in which he chose to display his range. Instead of forcing square shaped high notes into a circular song, MC displays incredible restraint choosing to showcase his range with beautiful background vocals that add an element of spice to the song. The mix is nice, especially for a “draft,” and instead of jockeying for position, the beat and vocals seemingly hold hands throughout the entire song, continuously complimenting each other.
C4RTER has serious industry promise. With a voice like his, the potential is endless, only limited by his creativity, imagination, and audacity. MC’s target demographic literally ranges from teenage girls to senior citizens on disco night at nursing homes. If this is what he calls a draft I’m essentially kid-in-a-candy-shop excited to experience a finished product. Be sure to follow C4RTER on Instagram to stay tuned with what’s to come.
