Carol Cake | “Real Sh*t Tho”
Carol Cake not only runs circles around her competition on the track but in the music realm as well. The Los Angeles Olympian has temporarily shifted her attention on sports to hone into rapping, one of her many feats.
She holds records for being the “Fastest Woman in Puerto Rico” and has been apart of significant campaigns, including Apple watches commercials. Correspondingly, she’s earned the title “The Fastest Woman in Hip-Hop” from her music colleagues and others who’ve listened to Cake’s proficient rhyme schemes. Outside of music, Cake has also expanded her merch line Ex-Trackstar vs. Trackstar.
Cake’s latest release, “Real Sh*t Tho,” uses an R&B/hip-hop instrumental that compliments her brazen wordplay.
Lyrically, the femcee speaks about her work ethic, saying, “Late nights turn to early morning.” She also expresses how her focus has been solely on making money and power moves. Thus, Carol is unbothered by people’s opinions about her. This demeanor, of course, makes certain individuals feel some type of way. Despite this, she keeps pushing forward and leaves them in the dust.
She delivers, “Got these hating hoes sick, man they all congested. Count the profit, put it back, and b*tch, I stay invested.“
As the song carries on, she reflects on last year’s turmoil, moreso, the effects the pandemic had on everyone across the world. The USC alumni further admits that while 2020 wasn’t the best, she counted her blessings and became stronger. And for those talking sideways, she drops warning bars. Nowadays, it seems that no affirmative action is being taken seriously by the government. Still, Carol Cake is here to say that we will make it through.
She raps, “They showing they true colors, it’s a whole lot of division.”
Her statement reads:
“Rearranging her plans which were originally set on attending the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Carol Cake puts it all on wax and delivers an anthem that both her peers and new listeners can connect to.”
