CashPapi | ‘Rockstar’ & ‘Switch Sides’ Put Toronto Back On The Map
CashPapi has solidified himself as Toronto’s hidden talent with the release of his brand new single ‘Rockstar‘, and ‘Switch Sides‘. The two4flex produced joints have some serious bounce and hit potential. CashPapi flexes hard on these joints and the energy is contagious. His style is one of smooth, handled flows similar to another successful artist out the 6ix, Nav. We love what we see from the 24 year old Toronto artist, and you will too.
.
CashPapi jumps on this up tempo guitar string track with confidence. He wastes no time getting to the point of the track, the fact that he is an absolute rockstar. He lets it be known shamelessly, and this will undoubtedly put you in your bag and make you feel like you’re a rockstar too. Shoutout to his vocal engineer too because his vocals sound perfect on this joint. His versatility is apparent as well, as he constantly switches flows between verses and does so seamlessly. This joint is a must listen for this summer.
I’m The Wave Like Tides
The music video for ‘ Switch Sides‘ directed by brownguymadeit solidifies that CashPapi has a serious team around him. The video shows a ton of beautiful woman twerking on lambos and throwing themselves at the young artist. All of this is happening while CashPapi keeps his cool and executes the hook of the track masterfully. The hook is undoubtedly the staple of this track, but his verses compliment that smooth and controlled style well. The dude definitely has talent and this track is proof.
Rap Fiesta had the exclusive chance to interview CashPapi. Check that out below.
Whatsup homie. Your flow is hella melodic and really has a ‘Toronto sound’ to it. How much do artists like Drake, The Weeknd and Nav influence you?
Well to be really honest those guys are cool and everything, but I’m really influenced by artists from Atlanta, like Gunna, Lil Baby, Playboi Carti etc.
You have a unique look and style. What’s your nationality and does that influence your brand at all?
I was born and raised in the Caribbean on the island of Saint Maarten, and it does influence my brand because I’m using where I come from to bring creative work and originality.
What made you get into music?
Freestyling as a kid in elementary school. I believe it was the 6th grade, then I made a song for a girl I liked and kept making music since.
Nowadays, it’s a huge commitment to try and be a respected rapper. What was that moment like when you realized you can take your music a bit further?
When I moved to Toronto to further my studies in marketing, I figured I can take this opportunity to take my music to the next level and network.
That track ‘Switch Sides’ was also produced by two4flex. Do you guys link up on tracks often? What’s your relationship with him?
I believe he’s aware that I’m using his beats, I don’t know him personally but i just stumbled across his beats on youtube and I like them, so I decided to work on them.
That video for ‘Switch Sides’ is dope by the way. That set was hella professional, and a video like that shows you’re serious about the craft. Where’d you get all those bad bitches?
She’s a friend of mine and she was down to do the video.
