Cheek The Profit’s song, “The Profit Strikes Back,” brings forth good vibes and infectious energy as he explains why hard work pays off. Another factor that gets the blood pumping is the beat, which takes inspiration from hip-hop and video game arrangements.
“The song simply states, ‘Work for your victories, but celebrate them as well,'” Cheek The Profit says.
Between lyrics, Cheek The Profit expresses why it’s best to move in silence. Instead of verbalizing your successes, he suggests that others put that same energy into their goals/dreams.
“Check your ego at the door/Too many bosses, not enough queens, I don’t got the time to entertain a hoe/I was down bad, but I can’t complain/Found the profit like I’m Sherlock Holmes,” he delivers.
Additionally, Cheek The Profit unveils the power behind being humble and how he always felt like he was destined to do more. “Seen it with my 3rd eye/Felt the strength from my Root Chakra, Can’t blend in when you this great.”
As the verse continues, he iterates that his success didn’t come overnight but rather over time due to the work he’s been putting in. Not to mention, the rapper says that ’till this day, oblivious people tell him to “keep going,” despite everything that he’s achieved.
During the second verse, Cheek The Profit recalls when he told the people in his life that he’d ascend as an artist. And sure enough, he did everything in his power to make it happen. Although life threw many obstacles his way, Cheek The Profit hurdled over them. He leaves the verse off on a good note, suggesting that others invest themselves solely into their aspirations.
“Last dollar imma bet on me/Imma profit, it’s not a question,” he spits.
