Chef E & Doni Hendrix | “Knuckle Up”, M2O Making Noise
The power punch duo Chef E & Doni Hendrix executed beautifully on “Knuckle Up”. Chef E residing out of PG County, Maryland & Doni Hendrix in the depths of Auburn, Alabama went cross country with the slaughter on this record. The two rhyme spitters wreak havoc on the Kenneth English produced record with gritty & rap packed personas. It’s the type of record that gets your mindset aligned & in the zone to take action. If you’re looking for authentic rap & sharp lyricism, you’ve stumbled upon the right independent artists.
The duo better known as, M2O, provides a musical fluidity that shapes sound like H2O shaping a bottle. These 2 have the modern sound, & old school boom bap records intertwined in a seamless manner. Their chemistry on this record bleeds strong as well and is a testament to their humble beginnings. Chef E & Doni Hendrix met back in 2013 at Alabama State University, and the two have teamed up to provide heat-seeking records in whimsical fashion ever since.
On “Knuckle Up” Doni ignites the fire with a blazing 16 that is sure to spark your chakras. He totes a high-paced flow with subtle aggression that sets the tone for the remainder of the record. The two can be seen on the chorus trading 2-bar segments in unison, it all serves to build more hype & showcase the grind mentality the two possess. Honestly, Chef E’s verse was very impressive. He came running out the gate with a seasoned verse, and his vocals possess a certain weathered quality that make him all the more authentic. With both possessing a sound & uniqueness all their own, the two are set to make some serious noise.
We were lucky enough to chat with the two & ask them where they got the inspiration for a sharp record like “Knuckle Up”, to which the two replied:
“Knuckle Up came from life in general. You always gotta dig in, knuckle up, and fight for what you want. No excuses allowed. It gets even more weight now with the current state of our nation and society” – M2O
As listeners will be able to extract that hustle from the sound, it shows how accurate M2O was in painting the picture. Speaking of which, they have an interesting story to how they developed their moniker,
“H2O is water and M2O is musical fluid. We feel that we can flow through anything and master our craft. We don’t get fixed into a position, but instead, we make the path.” – M2O
Sounding like a Bruce Lee quote, it carries some powerful weight. The two clearly have the ability to adapt to the musical climate & punch out a song with serious hit quality. There’s no telling what the two will do next on their next collaboration, but if “Knuckle Up” is any indication we know it’ll be filled with bars & authenticity.
The two understand that once a record like this gets attention, there won’t be any going back to normalcy. Chef E & Doni Hendrix plan on a continual progression & global expansion, and are building momentum with their series “M2O MonDaze”, along with consistent releases of music. They also let Rap Fiesta know that fan support & engagement is among their highest priorities, as their support is what keeps the engine fueled.
All in all, the two have developed one for the books & a record that will be on repeat for months to come. Be sure to follow Chef E on Instagram, and Doni Hendrix on IG as well, for more fire records.
