Childz | ‘No Hypothetics’ EP, Luck & 5 Rackz Give Off A Prime Big Sean Aura
Norfolk, VA rapper Childz recently dropped his highly coveted EP ‘No Hypothetics‘. The 5 track EP is jam packed with authenticated rhymes & was produced by some big time names. Kid Ocean, Kevin Katana, and Monte Booker are only among the few star studded producers touching this project. Simply based off producers alone, that is enough to be excited about. What takes it to the next level is Childz way of carressing & manipulating the angles on each of these instrumentals. It’s truly a sight to see, and Rap Fiesta is excited to shine some light on the Virginia artist.
Childz starts off the project with a smooth intro on ‘Luck’ that draws a young Detroit Big Sean comparison. It’s hard to deny his potential after listening to this, after knowing what Sean Jon’s career turned out like. We have a funny feeling that Childz path won’t be far off. He’s spitting some real on this. Tying everything back into his family roots, and praising humility claiming his endeavors are “luck of the draw” and this is a message we can get behind. What a way to set the tone for the rest of the EP.
Made something out of nothing man, I got David Blaine on the line
Immediately after his intro, he jumps into ‘5 Rackz’. We know, enough Sean comparisons, but his cadence on the bridge of ‘5 Racks‘ (around 1:30) reminds us of prime Big Sean. He doesn’t steal the show, but conducts it. We’re all following the lead of Childz, and in a way it feels like childs play for him. Way too easy, and smooth. His lyrical content is wrapped around the finesse of how Childz created opportunities from scratch. He even fades off into pockets of the stringy production giving glimpses of past relationships. If you’re curious to delve into Childz frame of mind, this is the track to bump. The loud assist he gets from A-mac on this is a nice contrast from Childz’s calmer pace. Overall, it’s a top favorite off the EP, and after one listen it’ll be clear why.
Ya’ll out here taking no for answers, I don’t sit around and hope for chances
Another Rap Fiesta favorite off the project is the outro track. From front to back, he doesn’t skip a beat in capitalizing on every song. On ‘Trappin’ out the Hill’, he displays the arsenal of flows and rhyme creativity. He delays for no one. Coming right in with powerful vocals, and diving into tranquil flows balance the versatility perfectly. His control on his verses paint pictures of an artist who has his pen game well built. He doesn’t rely on one aspect too heavily, and this is what sets him apart. He’s just as deadly with his bars, as he is with his flows- and that’s a deadly combination.
Overall, ‘No Hypothetics’ is going to be one you bump on a regular basis. Easily digestible, and sonically pleasing.
