Chris Patrick | “3AM”, Catchy Is An Understatement

Those are lyrics to the outro of the song “Tired” on New Jersey artist Chris Patrick’s 2020 album From the Heart, Vol. 2. Yes, Chris is an employee at Best Buy. Well, actually he is now a former employee of the yellow tag. After the success of Patrick’s singles “3AM” and SWISH along with many of his other tracks, Patrick decided to quit his position at Best Buy. You know, the place you walk around at before you go home and order what you wanted online.
The hook on “3AM”, is something as smooth and repeatable as Steph Curry’s jumper. Or maybe Drake’s often catchy choruses are a more apt comparison as “3AM” echos his AM/PM series. Either way, this song has a lot more to offer than a smooth hook. For many, the lyrics are so relatable. Whether it’s reminiscing to the past or someone in the present, most people have had someone they would ride for at “3AM”. The unique sample that loops in the background throughout the song helps the instrumental set that mood perfectly; someone caught in the moment just trying to get to the person that they vibe with.
Mr. Patrick reminds us of someone who could be part of Dreamville, from a catchy melodic track like this “3AM”, to songs that put his wordplay in the forefront, to bars that’ll make you think about life. Although I think it was a smart decision for Chris to quit his day job, maybe he could still help me with a couple of issues I’ve been having with my laptop.
