Dezert Eagle | ‘Dirt Under Fingernails’
Dezert Eagle dropped a project not too long ago titled Dirt Under Fingernails. In a word, the 5-track effort explores the rappers’ upbringing, inner thoughts, and tenacity. The Bezey 2 spitter also speaks on street culture. Not to mention, he displays an optimistic spirit from start to end. To put it into better terms, he’s enjoying the fruits of his labor. Instrumental-wise, Dirt Under Fingernails remains soul-embedded yet blends boom-bap with lively instrumentals.
Standout tracks include “Golgo 13” and “80’s Baby.”
“Golgo 13” is a menacing, piano-led boom-bap that finds Dezert Eagle giving details on his upbringing and other life experiences.
He raps, “Came up on the southside of London/Caught up in this inner-city underworld dungeon.”
“Mum cried at my first time in the fed station/Her and my dad set a firm foundation.”
Afterward, he illustrates his luxurious lifestyle. Although he resides in a residential area, he hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from. Also, Dezert Eagle lets it be known that he can still put someone in their place if need be.
“Everybody knows that I’m the humble one/Diplomatic, but they know I’m down to rumble dun.“
In the end, he isn’t worried about the drama. He’s more focused on becoming wealthy and raising his kids.
80’s Baby sees Dezert Eagle expressing the highlights of his childhood. He describes what it was like growing up in the previous era and how it’s made him who he is today. Additionally, Dezert Eagle details the trends as well that thrived during that time. Elsewhere, he says that he’s learned the ways of the game from the OG’s. Before closing, Dezert Eagle says that he will keep his eye on the prize until he’s financially set for life. The instrumental carries an edgy, soul boom-bap meets gospel feel.
He drops, “Can’t afford to be slippin cause I gotta keep winning.“
“My mind schemin on the finer things, fresh kicks and diamond rings.“
All things considered, Dezert Eagle is in a space where he’s determined to do it big. Regardless of where his life leads, he’ll make sure that his words will impact those he crosses.
