Dre Hill | ‘Time’ , Upbeat Trap Influenced By 90’s Cinema
Dre Hill is quickly proving he’s worthy of massive attention in the rap game. His latest track, ‘Time,’ featuring FifftyK, displays Dre Hill’s relaxed rap style over a beat with intense energy. Dre Hill’s latest track took a team to create. ‘Time’ is produced by BUKU! and 100yrd, mixed by who!, and received promotional help from DJ Davo.
Growing up in a military family, Dre Hill has traveled all over the United States. However, he spent most of his childhood growing up in Chicago and New York, which Dre Hill credits some of his musical influences.
DJ Davo and Dre Hill have been crafting music together for a while now. The two artists started working together when Dre Hill was only a kid. After the pair realized they share the same drive and work ethic, they began taking their music more seriously four years ago. Originally, Dre Hill only made music for his close friends. Now, the up and coming rapper is ready to share his craft with the world.
Dre Hill credits the 1999 hit movie Fight Club as his inspiration for his latest project. The film features a storyline that’s more fast-paced compared to other movies. Dre Hill chose to base ‘Time’ and the rest of his upcoming EP off the movie’s quick flow and storyline.
In ‘Time’ Dre Hill shows off his laid back style of rap. As the high-energy rhythm pulses behind his vocals, the rapper gives off a confident yet laid back energy in his lyrics. Dre Hill’s smooth flow remains consistent from the jump of the track and throughout his bars. His fearless enthusiasm is a perfect balance alongside the beat.
Regarding the beat that ‘Time’ features, it’s sure to have you head-bopping as you get lost in Dre Hill’s and FifftyK’s verses. The rhythm gives off hints of dark energy balanced out by an aggressive vibe with an attack mentality. As soon as ‘Time’ starts, the 808’s take over and immediately amp up the energy. To complement the heavy bass, the trap-like beat features fast-moving snare rolls and melodic runs.
To match Dre Hill’s intensity, FifftyK showcases his talents for the second half of ‘Time.’ FifftyK raps in an aesthetically pleasing auto-tuned voice with melodic runs at the end of his bars. The featured artists’ unique voice pairs well with Dre Hill and ultimately plays a crucial role in making ‘Time’ a fire track.
To continue the theme of classic 90’s films, Dre Hill plans on basing future projects on some of his favorite cinema from the time. From 90’s anime to Pulp Fiction, Dre Hill is looking forward to working on future projects based on cinema’s classics. For his latest project, an EP entitled ‘First Rule,’ Dre Hill bases everything off Fight Club.
When it comes to cohesive energy in the studio, Dre Hill and DJ Davo feel like they’ve found the perfect partner to work alongside. The two artists compare their matching work ethics to Future and ESCO or Lil Wayne and DJ Drama’s great partnerships. Because the duo shares the same intense and focused work style, they know each time they drop a track together, it’s going to bring some heat.
The future is bright for both DJ Davo and Dre Hill; there’s no denying that based on ‘Time.’ The two plan on staying busy this year, with two or three projects in the works to be dropped in 2021. Dre Hill is looking forward to blending his cinema influences with his creativity in the studio. Similarly, DJ Davo is focusing on remaining consistent in the energy they pour into their work.
DJ Davo also wants to draw attention to all the influential artists lost in the music industry. For the upcoming year, DJ Davo is crafting some mixes to commemorate the people the music industry has lost. Rap Fiesta had the chance to interview DJ Davo and find out what his and Dre Hill’s main objectives are for the new year.
“We’ll keep working. We gotta stay focused and keep working. Life is short. We have to remember the people we work hard for” – DJ Davo
