Drok | ‘Sopranos’, A Bop Driven By Heavy Bass
Next-up rapper Drok proves he’s ready for fame with his latest single, ‘Sopranos.’ The New Jersey musician teamed up with a local producer, TZILLA, to craft a bumping track that you have to experience.
Being from West Orange, New Jersey, Drok’s new song is inspired by a popular 90’s TV series. In Jersey, the hit crime TV show ‘The Sopranos’ plays a huge factor in its culture and history. Drok wanted to pay homage to his state with his newest single.
Here at Rap Fiesta, we got the chance to catch up with Drok and find out what inspired the talented artist to base his song off ‘The Sopranos.’
I wanted to shed light on the place that has helped me become the person I am today and is about to be making waves in the culture in the years to come – Drok.
Drok became interested in music at an early stage in life. Starting in the seventh grade, Drok began writing songs and knew music was something he had to pursue. As he continued to perfect his craft, the music grew into a passion and is something Drok can’t imagine living without.
Right from the jump, the ‘Sopranos‘ beat packs in heavy 808’s that bump through the speakers. In addition to the deep bass, low-pitched piano chords give the rhythm a dark feel. Overall, the beat has a gloomy, trap sense that you just have to play loud to truly appreciate.
Just when you think the beat can’t get any better, Drok spazzes on his verses. Drok’s natural flow complements the insane bass in ‘Sopranos‘ while sprinkling even more hyped-up energy. The way Drok times the ending of his bars emphasizes certain elements in the beat.
Drok’s flow on ‘Sopranos’ isn’t just something to admire; it’s an absolute bop. The up-and-coming artist brings a vibe that’s comparable to Drake, the way he forces you to fully tune in to each of his bars.
Regarding his lyrics, Drok put just as much time into writing his song as he did perfecting his flow. The Jersey rapper makes ties to pop culture, hypes you up, and throws some shade at the haters throughout ‘Sopranos.’
I need the crib big windows like it was Microsoft. Them n*ggas ain’t even know me, but they try to write me off. And now I make it rain they had to turn the wipers on. – Drok.
Like many other songs in the hip-hop genre, ‘Sopranos’ features various ad-libs throughout the track. Something about the energy and timing of Drok’s ad-libs adds a carefree, bouncy touch to the song.
The most catchy part of the track you’ll find yourself dancing to is the chorus Drok presents. Drawing attention to the bumping bass, he times the chorus’s ending perfectly to amp you up. With all the addicting hype Drok brings, it wouldn’t be a surprise if ‘Sopranos’ blew up on social media outlets like TikTok.
Drok and his team just finished up a brand new music video for ‘Sopranos‘ that you need to check out.
