Eqqi | “Off The Dome”, Austria’s Very Own
Austrian-based rapper Eqqi is making waves with his latest 7-track mixtape, “OFF THE DOME“. Hailing from a small town in Austria, he recently relocated to Vienna to further his music career. “OFF THE DOME” draws inspiration from Eqqi’s daily life, relationships with friends, family and partners, as well as the common problems that come with being a young savant. The result is a mix of meaningful and deep lyrics. This 7-track project showcases Eqqi’s versatility as an artist, as he elevates the listening experience to a whole new level. From the electric beats to the angelic harmonies, this album is a feast for the ears.
The mixtape features production from several up-and-coming European producers, including PurpOnThat, KiKiBeats, and Dober. We must give credit where credit is due, as these producers left a magical spark on the album.
One aspect you are to surely notice when listening, is the crisp sound of Eqqi’s vocals. His delivery is effortless, and he brings a level of authenticity to his lyrics that is sure to resonate with listeners. The production on “Off The Dome” complements Eqqi’s voice perfectly, creating a dynamic, purifying and cohesive sound.
Some of our favorite records off of the project are “SUPER MOON” and “NEVERMIND” as they are sure to leave listeners in their feels. The harmonies and verses in these songs are beautifully crafted and demonstrate Eqqi’s versatility as an artist. He switches effortlessly between vulnerable and introspective lyrics to powerful and confident rhymes, displaying a range of emotions that will captivate listeners.
As for some background on the rapper- Eqqi’s stage name has a unique origin story. It was given to him by a friend who started calling him “Eggi”. However, since the name was already taken, he replaced it with “Eqqi”. Eqqi has been making music for just over three years, but his interest in music extends far beyond that. He has always been involved in music, from singing to rapping, to taking hip-hop dance lessons.
Looking ahead, Eqqi has big plans for his future in music. He plans to release two music videos for his upcoming collaborations with Fery EVL. Additionally, he’s working on a solo 80s-style EP with three to four songs, as well as his second mixtape, “OFF THE DOME Vol. 2”, and several singles. He is also involved with the Planet Kollektiv events and concerts, making sure there’s always something new and exciting in the works.
With rapping coming as it easily as it does for Eqqi, it’s only a matter of time until he’s a household name. Until the day comes, we’ll have to make due with “Off The Dome” and enjoy it in it’s 7-track entirety.
