Fame Dollas | Shake Dat Ass, Strip Club Anthem
Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands, or should I say, your butt cheeks together for Fame Dollas new strip club anthem “Shake Dat Ass.” Listen, if this song isn’t a hand-crafted opener to the next Fast and Furious movie I don’t know what is. Picture it: Vin Diesel mumble-grunting his way through a barrage of injection inflated ass cheeks on his way to the starting line of what is sure to be the most important race of all time. “Shake Dat Ass” rumbling in the background, threatening to blow the lining right off of your TV screen.
Questionable rap name aside (you can change it up my guy, we don’t call NBA Youngboy “Never Broke Again” anymore), Fame Dollas had me hooked instantaneously. The energy was literally reverberating through my computer screen. I went from chilling on a hammock overlooking a lake in Miami, to seriously considering driving straight to the front door of E11even and demanding they open it right now. That’s the kind of fire Fame brings to the mic.
With it being such an abrasive song, it’s easy to overlook the technical proficiency Fame displays in “Shake Dat Ass.” His flow is somehow both brusque and nimble, and Fame is comfortable rapping both in front of, and behind the beat. Additionally, which to me is most surprising given the subject matter, Fame’s vocabulary, while predictably repetitive given its nature as a club banger, is diverse and not at all basic.
Fame is another lion in the battle tested North Philly pride. While “Shake Dat Ass” is an industry style club record, Fame is by no means one dimensional. Here is what he said about his upcoming EP “Bright Mind Dark Thoughts:”
“What inspired me was the fact that I’m super versatile as an artist, but I never really pushed the envelope on my versatility musically on one cohesive project. Something to ride out to in your car, something to party to, and songs that can motivate you and give you faith in the unknown.”
This is a driven, well-spoken artist backed by a manager with a proven track record having managed the likes of Fabolous and A Boogie. Fame has put in the work and he’s paid his dues. Now he’s about to drop a full comprehensive EP, and if “Shake Dat Ass” is any indication, this is going to be his coming out party, and no, this is not a party you want to be fashionably late to.
