Gawdlee | ‘Jealousy’, A Covetous Embodiment Reaches 400K+
Damn am I happy that I stumbled upon Gawdlee‘s hit song “Jealous”, while in the furrow depths of Spotify, the track currently has over 430k+ views and for good reason. The articulation and precise accuracy of jealousy within the lyricism is at the forefront for this tune. His concise free-flowing truth is apparent in it is message. Gawdlee is sad that his girl has moved on and he hasn’t which is so relatable. This is reiterated in the hook that he is “just jealous, cause you found someone else and i’m by myself”. That sampled vocal in the background that loops throughout the beat is in tune with the nostalgia looping in ones mind upon a past relationship with vocals stating, “When i’m crying over you”. A beautifully well put together song. Gawdlee is super articulate with his emotions on the topic and does not beat around the bush. The vibe of the song is the embodiment of covetous love.
Love is never scripted
Do yourself a favor and take a break from the fictional, mumble non-sense that floods your Spotify playlists and indulge into the purity of real, emotive-inducing music that is right in front of you, with this song ‘Jealous’.

How old are you and where you from?
Im 23. I was born in Muskegon, Michigan and raised in North Fulton County, Georgia. mostly in Roswell. To give you a better grasp of where I’m at though, Im also frequently visiting Greenville, SC and Phoenix, AZ.
How did you first start rapping and why do you continue?
My first time rapping was maybe a week or 2 before Michael Jackson passed away back in 2009. I was in Minnesota visiting some family and a cousin of mine let me know he was a rapper. One day he decided he wanted to have a sesh, and I decided i would write something and that was the day i picked up practicing.
I continue for a number of reasons. It’s therapeutic, It’s fun, it makes me feel purposeful, i’m able to communicate my thoughts in really creative ways, people appear to be positively impacted by it so it gives me a sense of pride.
It sounded like somebody really hurt you on that track ‘Jealous’. What is the story behind that?
Well, there are 2 slightly different versions of me on that song. The first verse was written at least a year before the second. Like the song suggests, I was feeling very jealous at that time because my ex of 6 years was dating someone I considered a childhood friend. For clarity, I used to consider that a betrayal but I learned from it that you cant expect people to care about your emotions more than their own. When I wrote the second verse, I was in a space where i had moved on emotionally. My goal was to capture that and have those two perspectives juxtaposed so that people can see how impermanent these sad situations are and how healing is possible and likely.
How does it feel to have a track with over 400k+ plays and what was the course of action to make that happen?
I have a pretty wild perception of just 1,000 so 400 times that humbles me greatly. People are always telling me how they were able to deal with these difficult emotional experiences because of the song. Thats all i want to accomplish ever. It means I’m not only making music I like. I’m being useful.
What separated Gawdlee from the average rapper trying to make it?
Well Im not trying to make it. I just want to develop mastery in everything I’m interested in and meet as many people as possible.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
Thats hard for me to answer, because i have so many. The list would be daunting to make. I could comfortably say myself though. I’ve been hyper aware about how I approach life from a young age. Looking at all the experiences I’ve had and the growth because of them inspires me to continue thriving and reach deeper. Cultivate more potent forms of happiness.
Whats next for Gawdlee?
The world.

A very real and educating interview with a man who has nothing to prove to anybody but himself. It is apparent from this interview that Gawdlee pursues music for just purposes, and that is something we can all get behind. It was a pleasure chatting it up with that man.
