Gray Hurley | “Rose-Tinted”, Genre-Bending Sounds You Can’t Miss
If you’re ready for a new spin on hip-hop and R&B, then you gotta check out Gray Hurley and his latest EP, “Rose-Tinted“. The three-song project implements a unique blend of R&B rhythms highlighted by the artist’s hard-hitting bars and saxophone samples that’ll leave you wondering what’s next from Gray Hurley.
Based in Seattle, Gray Hurley was inspired to drop “Rose-Tinted” after feeling like his music finally aligned with his vision. After experimenting with his sound for years, the gifted artist thought it was time to release music under his rebranded stage name — Gray Hurley.
More specifically, “Rose-Tinted” was meant to convey the honeymoon phase of romantic relationships and the ignorance that makes this stage so intoxicating. That said, the R&B-inspired rhythms capture these emotions perfectly.
The deep bass patterns and hypnotizing melodies transport you into the emotions and feelings Gray Hurley depicts throughout the project. On top of that, the way the artist utilizes his jazz saxophone style to amplify the tones of each song leaves you with a new appreciation for the instrument.
I feel like we’ve all experienced when a connection with someone might be too good to be true, but we’re so caught up in the moment it doesn’t matter – Gray Hurley.
Each song on “Rose-Tinted” is well worth the listen. Still, the one track we’ll highlight is “R U Down?”. The two-and-a-half-minute song features a more upbeat rhythm that immediately sucks you into its vibe.
Gray Hurley’s rapid-paced bars hit hard; it’s as simple as that. The artist doesn’t waste a single moment in the song and packs in so many addicting flows that you’ll find yourself repeating the track as soon as it’s over.
On top of that, the saxophone samples are A1 in this song. Saying Gray Hurley did a good job regarding the placement and energy of the saxophone audio in this song is a massive understatement. The musician captured the aesthetic of this song perfectly and utilized the instrument to his advantage from start to finish.
In a time where it seems like everyone is trying to be famous for whatever reason, I feel like authenticity is more important than ever – Gray Hurley on why he uses his middle and last name as his stage name.
The fact that Gray Hurley produced, wrote, and crafted each song on “Rose-Tinted” makes the entire project even more impressive. There’s no telling Gray Hurley’s limits, as the artist is genuinely gifted at each step of the song creation process.
Make sure you follow Gray Hurley on Instagram because after experiencing everything “Rose-Tinted” brings to the table, you’ll want more of Gray Hurley’s groundbreaking sound as soon as possible. Fortunately, the multi-talented artist isn’t slowing down anytime soon!
When we caught up with the Seattle artist, he said he’s all gas, no brakes for the foreseeable future. That said, Gray Hurley is focusing on maintaining his momentum by releasing more music, collaborating with other Seattle-based artists, and performing live.
