Hadji Gaviota, Ivy Sole | That Sinking Feeling
The Hip-Hop and R&B fusion has to be one of my favorite musical creations ever. The combination of smooth vocals over slow tempo live instrumentation and punchy, versatile, and witty bars will have any fan of music smiling from cheek to cheek. More importantly, it will get them off their chairs dancing with their loved one.
In this case, the artist’s name is Hadji Gaviota, and he showcases his ability to make extremely lovable, (and I will dare to say) timeless music with his latest offering, ‘That Sinking Feeling.’ While crooning over the end-of-summer vibe of the live guitar, the up and coming Queens, NY native delivers a beautiful and very true sentiment all heartbroken listeners can relate too.
Lyrics such as, ‘Stop and smell the rose planted in the quicksand,’ is symbolic of the singers past relationship. As we all know, it is undeniably difficult to NOT fall back into previously severed and toxic relationships. There is just something enticing about it, and Hadji perfectly encapsulates that emotion and feeling throughout this song.
With an excellent assist from rapper Ivy Sole, ‘That Sinking Feeling,’ has Chicago-inspiration written all over it. The female emcee immediately reminded me of NoName (a very high praise coming from an avid fan of the Chicago scene).
Produced by frequent collaborator, Mike Mroz, the song contains glistening drums, a thumping kick, and a bass groovy enough to get any hips swinging within just a few seconds.
All in all, I have to say Hadji Gaviota’s, ‘That Sinking Feeling,’ is an absolute must play and one of my favorite songs of the summer.
