iVPokko | “Grass Is Greener”, Third Album Showing Growth
iVPokko is back on Rap Fiesta’s radar following up the release of his second studio album “Red Eye Tape” last month, only to drop his third album “Grass Is Greener” a short month later. The type of dedication it takes to drop two complete projects within 2 months of each other should not go unnoticed, and the New York rapper’s hustle to deliver this just in time for 2021 is admirable. The growth on “Grass Is Greener” in comparison to “Red Eye Tape” is pretty exceptional for only having been separated by a month’s time. It’s this type of hustle that bleeds all throughout the 10-track project with passion & bars that create joyous experience.
“Grass Is Greener” is pieced together in a cohesive fashion, and the opening record “Lately I” is simply there to set the stage for the album’s soundtrack. With colorful bars & a soft piano melody to set up the next 9-tracks, this intro track isn’t one to take lightly and is one of our favorites off the project. What is crystal clear from iVPokko’s approach is that he never misses when trying to paint a complete sound on his albums. Each record transitions wonderfully between the ends & beginnings of tracks & sets up a thought-out project feel.
On “Tiguere”, he dices up the pockets with a high energy approach & puts his focus on some catchy choruses and wordplay. “Your head is too big to be gassin it”, is just a testament to his New York approach on talking his smack. This is the record off the project to put you in your bag & get the party poppin. On the flip note, when “Till I Die” comes on it’s where iVPokko’s introspective side illuminates. With the production being bare for his artistry to shine, his bars feel up close and personal with you while he lets you into his thought process.
On this album he’s truly hitting a multiplicity of vibes and has something for everyone. If you’re trying to get the club jumpin, he’s got “OoWee” with high melodies for you. If you want that windows down, doing 80 on I95 feel, “How I Look” and “Grass Is Greener” have you covered.
Speaking of which, the outro “Grass Is Greener” and his intro “Lately I” are where you’ll feel the album come around full circle. With bars lighting up the beat background & lyrics to flood your mental, there’s a lot to take in with what iVPokko is covering in just 10 songs. But as usual, he’s not skimping out on quality and is delivering an authentic vibe that he created the mold for.
“Grass Is Greener” is holding in a lot of substance while giving you a lot of records to vibe out to. That balance is hard to find, but iVPokko is consistently churning out tune after tune in a complete manner. He’s kicking off 2021 with a bang, and his album “Grass Is Greener” is setting up the anthem for a great year. Don’t miss out and give project a listen on your favorite streaming platform now.
