Izye | “drip”, Alluring, Commanding Presence
Izye makes her commanding introduction to Rap Fiesta’s scene with her recently released single, “drip.” The three-minute R&B/hip-hop blend of a heater is just one song a part of her latest album, “F**K BOYS, GET MONEY.”
Izye tells us she’s been making music in a professional setting since she was about 17. However, she attests she’s been a musician and a performer all her life. The life-long experience of being a musician is part of what gives Izye the (rightfully owed) confidence you can feel in her music.
Inspired by the song “Water” by Kehlani, the Fremont, California artist aimed to embody and channel her bad b*tch energy with her track “drip.” Additionally, Izye brings the same suave, alluring energy to her song, just like Kehlani. Still, even though Izye was undoubtedly inspired by Kehlani, she made sure to add her own creative touch to “drip.”
One of my favorite songs is ‘Water’ by Kehlani. I love everything about it; her flow, the production. It made me feel like a bad b*tch, so I wanted to make a song that made me feel the same way, Izye, regarding her inspiration while creating “drip.”
Produced by KundoCrankin’, “drip” entangles you in an R&B-inspired rhythm blended with more traditional rap elements. At the song’s start, subtle water drops play through the speakers, complementing a soft yet electric techno melody.
At around the 15-second mark, the “drip” beat gets much more intense. Low-pitched tones with a dark feel vibrate the speakers, which are later transformed into a bumping bass pattern. Overall, the rhythm is a steadily moving vibe that sets Izye up perfectly to drop some hard-hitting bars and vocal runs.
Speaking of Izye’s vocal runs, you’ll instantly feel a similarity to some of today’s biggest stars, like Ariana Grande. The control and range Izye has while she delivers electrifyingly powerful vocal runs are top-notch. On top of that, her vocal runs bring a little something extra to “drip” that helps it stand out from the crowd.
But Izye’s insane vocal runs aren’t the only impressive aspect she delivers throughout “drip.” Towards the end of the song, the singer showcases her versatility, laying down a quick-moving, energetic series of bars that elevate the song’s energy. Although you don’t see these bars coming, they’re a perfect example of all the skills Izye has in her bag.
Overall, “drip” is a pop/R&B fusion that has an alluring undertone you can’t help but be intrigued by. Izye’s commanding presence on the song speaks to both her love for music and her natural talent. From her powerful vocal runs to her emotive lyrical delivery, everything about Izye demands your attention.
Make sure you give Izye a follow on Instagram because the up-and-coming singer/songwriter is just getting started! Her first project, “F**K BOYS, GET MONEY,” is now streaming on all your favorite platforms. The seven-song mixtape addresses “heartbreak, healing, and finding your inner bad b*tch.”
Also, Izye aims to branch out and collaborate with other creatives as she pushes her music career forward. Izye is only at the start of her music career, and we’re sure big moves are coming in the future.
