Jax The Geenius | “A.d.vice”
New Jersey native, Jax The Geenius, advises the hopeless romantics to be wary of who they fall for in his song “A.d.vice.” Speaking in the second person, Geenius questions the besotted lover if they’ll ever learn their lesson when it comes to dealing with a woman who doesn’t treat them right. Rather than sulk around, Geenius urges this individual to get back on track. After all, the clock never stops ticking, and neither should their grind.
Afterward, Geenius speaks about his efforts to guide children onto the right path and checking on investments. In “A.d.vice,” we see Geenius have two epiphanies. The rapper says in his lyrics, “I need to eat at home, instead of all this spending,” and “Fucking around my exes, realizing I’m stopping my blessings.”
Production-wise, “A.d.vice” favors Musiq Soulchild’s musical styling. Likewise, the beat delves into a dark electro-synth, oscillating piano progression, hi-hats, and a thumping bassline. This song, in particular, can be found on his 13-track effort, Unapologetic. As per Geenius, “This mixtape is a compilation of self-reflection and embracing who I am, unapologetically. Growth comes in many forms. I needed to reflect for myself.”
