JayR Rashiq | “Help Me”
JayR Rashiq‘s “Help Me” expands on the following quote: you don’t know what you’ve got ’till it’s gone.
In nearly three minutes, the musician takes a sincere approach when analyzing a former lover’s actions. Although she pretends he’s non-existent, he knows she felt something real between them. Despite knowing this, JayR Rashiq concludes that he’s focusing on his elevation. He has no time to play the waiting game.
Using a melodic cadence, he says
“Since you act like you don’t want me/I gotta run to the money.”
JayR Rashiq keeps up the momentum by giving himself a pep talk in the first verse. Afterward, the artist thinks back to when he was figuring himself out.
He delivers, “I ain’t know who I was/I was scared when I looked in the mirror.”
Then JayR Rashiq mentions a conundrum he’s encountered with people who once adored him. Their actions have prompted the artist to question other people’s intentions.
“If you love me, then show me you’re here & don’t disappear,” he says.
In the second verse, the New York-based lyricist declares that his lifestyle is changing for the better. Unlike his peers, JayR Rashiq is inching toward success. But, because envy & hate are the wicked’s way of admiring others, he advises go-getters to stay on their P’s & Q’s.
Towards the end of “Help Me,” JayR Rashiq recalls a moment when he had to grow through what he went through. Although certain people refuse to bat eyes in his direction, the R&B/hip-hop musician knows their watching. The gloomy beat takes on both R&B & lo-fi arrangements.
