Je’juan Antonio | “Monarch”, Smooth, Soulful & Packed With Talent
If you’ve been looking for a smooth R&B sound infused with just a touch of trap and hip-hop, then you’ve gotta check out Je’juan Antonio and his newest project, “Monarch“. The seven-song album was initially released in 2022. But to say the songs still hit hard is an understatement.
Originally from Northwest DC, Je’juan Antonio has been creating music his entire life. The growing artist recalls singing to a Mary J Blige cassette tape when he was just two years old. And regarding his professional career, Je’juan Antonio started pursuing music more seriously in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since.
It’s in my blood, I was born of two stars. My mother passed away in 2014, God rest her soul, and my father who is a soca artist – Je’juan Antonio, regarding his musical foundation.
“Monarch” is a wavy album from top to bottom that’s packed with soulful lyrics, rhythms that hit the ears just right, and an immense amount of talent that is Je’juan Antonio.
Part of the reason “Monarch” hits so hard is because Je’juan Antonio had a lot of inspiration while creating this project. That said, the gifted singer described the primary inspiration behind the project as his journey of chasing his dreams. “Monarch” was inspired by Je’juan Antonio leaving his hometown for the first time and branching out to follow his calling.
This EP was a reintroduction of who I am musically, as an artist – Je’juan Antonio, regarding the inspiration behind “Monarch”.
One of the best aspects of “Monarch” are the various rhythms Je’juan Antonio utilizes to captivate listeners and hook them into his sound. Working with a variety of producers, such as thentwrk, Paco black, Kolten Perine, XIXI, Tae Styles, and Charles Alston Jr., allowed “Monarch” to contain a unique blend of sounds.
For instance, the song “All On Me” features an upbeat rhythm that instantly hooks you in with its dance-like elements and Je’juan Antonio’s smooth presence on the mic. However, the talented singer proves he knows how to slow things down too, especially on songs like “Break of Shine“.
The diversity and undeniable talent highlighted throughout “Monarch” makes the album a must-listen. Je’juan Antonio has a certain presence anytime he’s singing that essentially forces you to take in every aspect of the music.
After experiencing “Monarch” for the first time, don’t be surprised if you find yourself instantly eager for more music from Je’juan Antonio. Fortunately, the gifted singer/songwriter is focused on dropping more projects in the near future, so make sure you give him a follow on Instagram.
During our interview, Je’juan Antonio said he’s aiming to release more music by early 2025 as well as collaborate with other artists as a writer.
