Jordan Rivers | “For You (feat. Skyler Zayne)
Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Jordan Rivers is a musician who doesn’t shy away from his emotions. Instead, he uses these feelings to compose honest and relatable lyrics, which ultimately garners Jordan Rivers a loyal fanbase.
Growing up, the Things Won’t Be The Same artist wrote poetry and transitioned to rapping around 12 years old. Since 2017, he’s been releasing music and has even gotten plays on his hometown’s radio station, Hottest Flow 93.5. Fast forward to now, and Jordan Rivers has dropped not only the project mentioned above, but a single called “For You.”
“For You” is an R&B and hip-hop offering full of piano loops and other upbeat arrangements. The lyrics at hand see Jordan Rivers reflecting on a relationship that he regrets losing. “That’s why I love you, that’s why I need you back in my life/Sorry I ever thought twice, heck was I thinking/I just fucked up my life,” he raps.
In the first verse, Jordan Rivers looks back on how their bond bloomed over time. He seemingly makes an apology for throwing in the towel and lists how he’s going to make things right between them.
“I promise I love you won’t back down/I put it all on the line for you/I’ve been searching this mine for clues/I hope you don’t mind the truth,” he laments.
Once “For You” gets to the second verse, the rapper continues to reminisce about the precious moments they shared. Jordan Rivers even owns up to his mistakes, spitting, “I’m sorry, I know that I messed up/I own that you were never owed that/Now I walk with my chest up.”
His feature, Skyler Zayne, assists with the song’s chorus, perfectly illustrating through his soothing vocality that Jordan Rivers means it when he says that she deserves the world.
