Jorgie Fyb | Fake Love ft. Big Head, Hotboy J, FYB Ent.
Cali is home to a lot of talented artists of many styles and backgrounds. Especially true within the hip-hop community, everyone around the world knows the west-coast scene is one of the most poppin’ and competitive in the entire country. Fyb Ent. are definitely creating a buzz for themselves out of Sacramento, and tracks like “Fake Love” are helping make their case as one of the most exciting prospects of up-and-coming talent this year. The collective from South Sac Iraq, as they like to say, are creating their own lane by showcasing both individual skill and contagious group energy when they come together on a track. Fyb Ent., comprised of rappers and recording artists Jorgie Fyb, Big Head, and Hotboy J, team up nicely to body this silky smooth track.
Produced by Jorgie, the first beat he’s ever released to date, “Fake Love” exudes a feel-good vibe with a cypher-esque stylistic approach. The catchy guitar sample sets the tone enjoyably, and Jorgie’s choice of sonically-pleasing percussive elements truly allows for these rappers to steal the show. The track begins vocally with Jorgie spitting feel-good lyrics and clever puns with a comical undertone that make listeners ears perc up instantaneously. Some of this is shown when he raps.
“I’m takin’ pills like my granny, I’m a xan baby.
Makin’ money since a youngin’. I’m the man, baby.
Finna blow up real soon like a hot head.
Any n**** disrespect me gettin’ hot lead.”
While this is only one excerpt, Jorgie continues through his verses with many other standout bars that are surely worth the listen. Later on in the track, Big Head and Hotboy J come in with impressive rhyme schemes and clever flows, displaying well-defined lyrical acumen and unique artistic aptitude. With the second verse, Big Head captivates with catchy bars and a lower-toned vocal similar to former Brockhampton stand-out Ameer Vann. Later on, Hotboy J razzles and dazzles with improvisational flows and a vocal inflection akin to that of hip-hop superstar Blueface. Both of their contributions make for a perfect combination to compliment Jorgie, and effectively round out this appealing track nicely.
Rap Fiesta got the chance to speak with Big Head to get to know a little more about the collective, along with some of their inspirations and goals. When asked about their background and what inspired “Fake Love,” Big Head went on to remark,
“…We’ve been making music for about 2 years but music has always been in our resume… We were just having fun with [“Fake Love”] and when we dropped it… it ended up being a fan favorite which is why we’re still making music…”
We weren’t surprised to find out that they were just kickin’ it and having fun while creating this record, as the light-hearted nature really shines through in the music. A lot of times, some of the most organic tracks with the most replay value are often created out of a place of the artists just having a good time. “Fake Love” is no exception. As for the collective’s next moves, Big Head said,
“…The goal is to keep this music shit pushin. To take our families out of the hood. Overall make quality music…”
We respect the drive and motivation of everyone within Fyb Ent., and know that big things are still to come for these artists. All of us at Rap Fiesta are excited to see what the future has in store for this impressive group of artists. We’ll be on the lookout for any of their individual and group tracks in the future, but until then “Fake Love” is gonna be on repeat.
