Josiah Gray | Unified Justice
Ecuador born, but Miami bred was the culminating recipe that brought Josiah Grey into existence. The humble rapper uses his voice as medication for awakening the world with his latest offering, ‘Unified Justice‘. The inspiration on this track is clear. Josiah is fed up with the inequality that is infecting the human race and his penmanship was summoned to shed light on the manner in blazing fashion. Tying real issues into a banger is never easy, but Josiah has got one with ‘Unified Justice’.
Unified justice, what we seek. For all the wrong things that we’ve seen. There ain’t no stop til the truth is out, til the equality we wanted has finally come about.
Humble rappers are far and few between the world of Hip-Hop, but Josiah’s bar showed a grounded artist. Wasting no time, in the intro of the track he prays for blessings to be bestowed upon him and his people. He glides over the beat with a fiery vocal that makes his message sizzle in your heart. The production is stringy and delicate, and combined with Josiah’s controlled and silky cadence makes for an empowering effect. What makes the song all the more tangible is the fact that Josiah produced the record himself. Penning his own bars and crafting his own beats makes for a dangerous combonitation, especially being that he brings brawn in both areas.
He lets his artistry shine into a flow that is as comforting, as it is awakening. It’s almost as if listening to Josiah’s lyrical content addressing all of the wrongdoings of society will make them better, and after listening to this track, that might be the lasting effect. At the end of the track, there is a heartfelt sample played that pays tribute to the martyr that was George Floyd, and it has a profound effect on the dramatic aspect of the record.
With more tunes to share, Josiah is currently in the process of finishing up his debut album, and if this track is any inclination to how that project will sound- Rap Fiesta will be paying attention. All in all, this was as powerful as it was musical. For that reason alone you should stop what you’re doing now, and get in tune with the latest record from the instrumentalist tastemaker.
