Juice Potter | Talking “Project Potter”, Fall Mixtape
If you’re not familiar with Juice Potter, you will be soon. The influential artist has gleamed into the spotlight recently and is quickly becoming one of the Garden States’ most-watched artists. With momentum in over 7 countries, records that have surpassed hundreds of thousands of streams, and an artist who carefully crafts his image in sensical fashion- we’re witnessing an independent force to be reckoned with in the industry today. With polished talent and playful flows infecting his overall soundscape, his records provide instant enjoyment. His most recent EP “Potterville” was released in 2018 with an array of diverse records that provide testament to the New Jersey artist, but it’s been 2 years since Juice Potter has dropped a body of work. The world is calling for more, and Potter has answered the call with his highly anticipated mixtape, “Project Potter” dropping in early October.
Based on his catalog & visuals like “No Cap’N”, we can tell that that fans will be in for a treat. His ability to infuse playful bars into records that are packed with high replayability make for a scary combination. His bread and butter are catchy flows and silky verses, and what better way to put his talent on full display than eye-candy catching visuals. Here at Rap Fiesta, we were lucky enough to connect with Juice & get into what sparked his desire for creating music, and he told us,
“I been into music my whole life. I was chasing football in the beginning, and I never really paid attention to it. 9th grade was the first time I made my first song. Me and my cousin was in the garage, we’d usually just smoke and freestyle, and this particular day he wanted to record. He said, “Yo you can’t smoke unless you record”. Low and behold we start recording, blunt is half way done and I’m like “Yo, wait hold up. Let me hit that.”, and he wouldn’t let me unless I recorded… So that was the first time I made a song, but 2016 was when I really first started. I got kicked out of school in 2015.. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. Music kind of just found me. I wrote my first rap on a napkin in the basement, and that’s how I got started.” – Juice Potter
With a gritty story and genuine love for the art, he dove in with all he had. As the dream began in 2016, we find ourselves in 2020 with Juice Potter sticking with the grind & promising a mixtape that’s oriented to shock & please the world. As Potter plans to leave his upcoming mixtape “Project Potter” up to interpretation for listeners to extract, he did offer us a piece of insight as to what inspired the mixtape,
“I inspired the tape. I was debating whether I wanted to drop my first official project, or if I wanted to drop singles and videos, and I decided to drop a project instead. I felt like a body of work of mine ain’t been out yet. I dropped an EP, but I felt like it was time for a project. Something for me to put all my effort into, really it was me.”
As to why you should listen, it’s clear that Juice Potter is in his own lane. The project is intended on good vibes and is aimed across all demographics. The females and guys can turn up to it. You can bump it at parties or in the whip alone, it’s versatile. It’s also geared towards having fun and enjoying the best parts about life, which is the energy Potter gives off increasingly. If you still don’t believe in the fun origins of this album, just check out how Juice Potter got his name,
“My stage name came from two separate occasions. In 2012, my cousin asked me to bring some lean to his party, we call it juice. I brought like two liters of it, and he saw me with the juice and he said “Yo, your name Juice from now on.” Potter came in 2017, we were celebrating in Miami and I had the Gold Harry Potter shades on. I was rocking em, I was styling em, and my cousin started making fun of me saying, “Yo you look like Juice Potter, fuck outta here”, and then I looked in the mirror-like matter fact, that’s fly. Yeah like Juice Potter, that’s me. I said, “Yeah, you right, that’s exactly who I look like”.
He’s truly the people’s artist as you can tell simply by how he got his name. With a spirit & talent like Potter’s, it’s clear there’s a lot of winning to be done on his side. With the release of “Project Potter” coming up in early October, he has many cards to play.
