Kidd Martian | ‘183rd Freestyle’ Lyricism Lives On
If anyone is under the impression that lyricism is dead in Hip Hop, you should definitely think again. Kidd Martian instantly proves that high-level IQ bars are not only relevant, but are still extremely impressive. In his latest single titled, ’183rd Freestyle,’ the New Jersey based artist breaks away from his usual sound, which he calls a more modern-style of traditional of traditional Hip Hop.
The first artist rapping on the track is S.K., a frequent collaborator of Kidd Martian. S.K. had originally planned on using the beat for, ’183rd Freestyle,’ for his own release. After losing motivation to release it on his own, he challenged Kidd Martian to step out of his comfort zone, a challenge which we are very happy happened here at Rap Fiesta. As a result, Kidd Martian was inspired to match the lyricism of his fellow artist and came in to match the heat we all heard S.K. spit on the first verse.
Produced by 183rd, the song possesses smooth piano chords, an incredibly played lead synth, and hard hitting kicks. Pair this production with two strong performances from two tremendous emcees, and that leaves listeners with the banger that became, ’183rd freestyle.’
The sheer versatility of Kidd Martian should be no surprise to those that have already been following him on his journey. He is essentially a veteran of Hip Hop, writing and recording songs since 2008 and performing music since he was just a toddler. He is also able to play several instruments including cello, saxophone, and bass guitar.
With his debut project in the works, hopefully dropping by fall 2020, Kidd Martian is definitely an artist we will be keeping on our radar.
