KiddMartian | “Slow Down”, Cool, Confident & Enticing
“I was a smart nigga in the trap, had to fall back two degrees so I’m on the right track”
KiddMartian does his finest Kid Cudi impression by floating all over “Slow Down”, with each syllable riding the highs and lows of the production plus adding captivating vocals on the chorus. KiddMartian provides the listener with an unique blend of vocals and bars, alternating back in forth to keep us, the listener, engaged. In addition to that, production by Soundshine helps KiddMartian stand out above his peers, carving out a niche that only his sound can fill. KiddMartian is a New Jersey native with plenty of musical experiences, including playing multiple instruments since the age of 4, poetry at 9 and truly rapping at 12.
“Slow down” takes its inspiration from KiddMartians’ mother, who throughout his life continued to reiterate that his hustle, ambitions and urge to become successful was unlike anything she’s ever seen before. KiddMartian backs this up by writing this song alongside pursing his Master’s Degree, running a business, with both come on top of working 40 hours a week. That is hustle in the truest sense of the word, and his background resonates with listeners who are about that grind.
“It was given to me by a group of friends at the age of 14….They created KiddMartian because I was the youngest, most unique person they claim to have met”
Soundshine did his thing on the production of “Slow Down”. Adding lo-fi elements over heavy bass, Soundshine was able to produce an easy listening experience while at the same time fully allowing KiddMartian to lay his unique flow over the track. KiddMartians’ cool and confident demeanor touches on various reasons why he will not allow himself to become distracted and keeping his goal crystal clear. In his first verse, he double downs on the constant pressure of the time crunch, and how there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything he wants accomplished. Harmonizing with the chorus, his sound blends deep into the tract, while Soundshine provides breaks within the single to allow KiddMartian to fully embrace the beat, while double downing on why he cannot stop.
Coming up next, KiddMartian has an official project coming in the wings, waiting for the oppurtune time to drop. In the meantime, follow KiddMartin on Instragram to keep up with his latest releases while keeping ‘Slow Down’ on repeat.
