Laddie Moran | ‘Crybaby’, Your Next Favorite EP
You may have heard of Laddie Moran because of his hit single ‘In My Head’. That single has garnered over 259,000 streams on Spotify off of his 2019 album ‘Growing Painz’, but the Lancaster City rapper is back putting PA on the map with his latest EP ‘Crybaby’. The 6-track EP is high powered with sparky bars, lucid flows, and soul-mending lyrics. His approach on ‘Crybaby’ comes from a vulnerable & truthful position. He’s unafraid of confronting the rawest of human emotions on this project, and he does so in a way that captivates your true feelings. A lot of the records on this EP can be doubled as your sub-conscious feelings being given a voice. Laddie Moran opens bottled emotions that most rappers are afraid to, and he does so in a sonically pleasing manner.
“I don’t wanna think right now. I just wanna smoke my weed. Call, but it rang, and it rang, I must’ve forgot about she. Don’t worry what I’m doing right now, where I been, where I’m going. She don’t wanna think right now, she just wanna smoke her weed. Call, but it rang, and it rang, she must’ve forgot about me.” – Laddie Moran
On ‘Already Shmoove’ he story-tells with vivid imagery of a female counterpart going through the motions. He skillfully incorporates a chorus that flips between her mindset, and his. His ability to provide the listener with a door into different perspectives is elite and can be easily seen at the end of the record. He transitions between both mentalities smoothly, only to show that they have the same feelings. His meaning is deep and delivers the message with more accuracy than your favorite news broadcast.
Another fan favorite is ‘UGLY’ with him getting into the nitty-gritty and versatility of love. A lot of rappers would avoid this topic, but Laddie Moran captures the elusive emotion perfectly. The entire 2-minute record is devoted to lacing the production with veracity. His verses lace the production with positive affirmation, but on the flip he wants everyone to understand that love isn’t always daisies and roses. A rapper ahead of his time with the ability to intertwine educational emotions into rich bangers is hard to come by, but he is among us and his name is Laddie Moran.
Having been in the game for 13 years, the time has served him well. His seasoned skill-set is especially seen on ‘Crybaby Blues’. His vocal technique is surgical like and the way Laddie picks his pockets you would’ve thought he was a thief. With probably the most soulful record on the EP with an old school sky-reaching vocal entering the vicinity, Laddie hops on the vocal-scene with swagger. He slices the beat with precision and injects so much feeling into his latter verse, and then quietly fades into the distance.
With such an emotionally packed EP in the palm of his hands, we wanted to know where the inspiration for ‘Crybaby’ came from & how he arrived at his stage name. Laddie was kind enough to give us insight,
[The inspiration came from] the movie “eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” and a lotta bit of my real life inspired the EP. My stage name is a mixture of my grandfathers first name and the last name of a fictional character “Alex Moran” from the show “Blue Mountain State”
In our humble opinion, it’s highly advised you give ‘Crybaby’ a thorough listen. Every track slaps from cover to cover. We’d recommend this for any listener who wants to listen to a quality rap artist with a story to tell, and with that being said- you can bump this at any function.
