LowkeyNeek & JUSTDON | “Everything AP”
LowkeyNeek is coming to take her rightful spot in the music industry. The multi-hyphenate artist strives to create music that’s authentic and engaging at the same time. Likewise, her lyrics often push listeners to be the best version of themselves. Moreover, LowkeyNeek encourages everyone to be true to who they are. Regardless of the “ he-say-she-say,” she expresses how important it is to leave the hate behind, to speak your truth.
She says,
“I want my sound to make you think about pretty colors and how happy you feel when you can be free and be yourself. My message is always to be unapologetically yourself and remember you can’t stay mad at situations or people. You can’t control what happens to you in life, and you also can’t control how people behave, so you might as well just be you!”
Her music journey started in elementary school. During that time, she was playing the drums and piano. Then, once she entered middle school at Allen Christian School, LowkeyNeek picked up the french horn and played in the concert band. From then on, she played the french horn through high school and some of college.
After spending some time figuring out what path she wanted to take in college, LowkeyNeek ended up taking music production, and she was instantly hooked.
She began applying the things she learned in class to real-life and started recording for her friend in their studio. Fast forward, and LowkeyNeek discovered that not only could she play instruments, record, engineer, and make beats. She could also rap and sing!
During the beginning stages of her career, LowkeyNeek wasn’t a fan of her voice.
“I’ve always been good with words, so writing was never a problem, but I felt like my delivery wasn’t good enough,” she explains.”
She’s been spitting in the booth in February 2020. Since then she’s been perfecting her craft around the clock.
Recently, LowkeyNeek teamed up with JUSTDON for her single, “Everything AP.” In summary, the track pushes others to keep reaching for the stars. Only you have the power to create your destiny. Regardless of all the shade thrown your way, keep on shining!
“No matter what people say, it only takes one opportunity to get you the success you want,” she says. “It doesn’t matter if you are a pro or if you are a veteran!”
Explaining the process behind “Everything AP” she says,
“I found a loop and started building a melody around the first loop that caught my ear. For about a day or two, all I had for the beat was the melody. Then I started adding drums and continued until the beat was complete. I wasn’t getting any lyrics for it first, so I went to YouTube to find another beat to try. I got the first bar, “I’m shooting 50 for 50…” from saying it on one of the YouTube beats I found. But that beat sounded similar to the one I made. Eventually, I went back to my beat, and afterward, the words were flowing. Once I finished my hook and verse, I had to call my brother JustDon to spit some bars on it. I knew his voice would fit perfectly!”
Over the flute-led, menacing drill beat, LowkeyNeek explains why she’s always on her grind, saying that she’s aiming for wealth and longevity in her career.
“AP the diamonds applying that pressure so I can pop out with some ice on my neck/I put in that work/ All I need is a check/Ain’t even start, but I move like a vet.”
Following this, the rapstress expresses how she wants the finer things in life. Then, she speaks on her exclusive ice and drip game.
“Saving the hood like I’m Robin/Doin’ this shit like my momma would/All I really want is the diamonds/Just like a rich b*tch should.”
She couples this with clever punchlines and a bouncy cadence.
No matter who gets in her way, she’s working nonstop to get what she deserves.
“I got a need for speeding/Leaving n*ggas in the dust, competing, diamonds on me its a muscle I’m feinin‘”
JUSTDON addresses haters, exposing why they’re envious to begin with. The reason stems from JUSTDON getting a bag and then some.
“Ain’t even start and these niggas upset/’Cause you niggas be hating I look like a vet/Worried ’bout money that’s why you in debt.”
As long as no one comes crazy, there will be no problems on JUSTDON’s end. He is all about his Benjamins, after all, and could care less about a hater.
“I’m shooting 50 for 50 lil nigga you better just shut up and show your respect/I don’t care what you be on or who you be with, just make sure you coming correct.”
